Background Rumblings - Butch Davis

i have not heard from anyone that he is looking to bring in Schiano. wouldnt surprise me but rutgers donors want him back.

Only in the mind of overly important petty asshats who should be taken down a notch or two could there be any reluctance or resistance to hire back the architect of the greatest roster ever. It's really pathetic that this is even surprising. This should have been the first thing they jumped on after last season.

I remember very well. Back then, if we lost two games a year - it was a disaster.

We got so accustomed to winning, no one could or would accept the fact that scholarship reductions or not - we had to win.

I also remember in 2000, Butch and our team got cheated out of beating Oklahoma for the National Championship.

I also remember in 2001, Butch's team - handed to Clappy - won the National Championship.

I also remember in 2002, Butch's team - led by Clappy - got cheated for another National Championship.

I further remember that as Butch Davis's recruits graduated, our team tanked and has never gotten close to doing what Butch did.

might happen. he has to restore the culture. end of the day, he was a first time HC and figured it out last time. his sancations were 1000 times what golden had. he did a great job.

If the rumor is correct that Blake went to meet with Fain, if Fain does nothing but agree that Golden is the most polarizing critter in UM history, and for Fain to not actively stop the hiring of Butch Davis - then I'd say it's a done deal.

Golden is leaving - zero doubt.

Other coaches will be leaving this year - maybe even Spurrier - and there's going to be a number of schools larger and with more money than UM - all in the market for a coach.

The sooner we pull the trigger, the smoother the transition - the better recruiting will be - and the faster the negativity the school receives for keeping Golden is negated.

Butch is money. He'll make the school a **** of a lot more money than his salary - therefore - Butch is not a cost. Guaranteed.

Most others are either very expensive - or unproven - at UM - in this unique environment.

One Butch is already familiar with.

I'm going to disagree with you here. NOMINALLY, Frenk has the power to hire a new coach. However, the real power at the University has always been with Fain and the other billionaire leaders who head the BOT. Frenk won't make a move without their guidance and consent.

However, Butch might be coming in ahead of schedule, while we impatiently wait.

At least with Butch if we got beat we'd go down swinging instead of bent over and gaping like we do under this soft *** staff.
