Jennings getting a redshirt last year was good, I could see him and Steed being guys to help off the bench. A healthy Wilder could get some burn as well.
K. So who do you think is going to step up and take over those snaps?Because we had upperclassmen like Darrion Owens and Mike Smith playing those minutes while the young guys develop/get healthy.
He wouldn't of posted it if he wasn't serious. Bring something constructive. Are you seriously asking who starts a year and a half from now? What a moron. These kids are still going through puberty. Worry about the now once in your life.
Exactly what I'm getting at. The Godfather's post has me anxious to see Jennings take that step.Looking for someone to take that next step like Romeo did last year.
One of the reasons I'm hoping to see a step up in play from the backups.Meh. Based on what? Big, strong kid that can hit, but seemed to me like he was running himself out of the play the few times I saw him playing last year. He may end up being great - no shame in not seeing the field much behind Shaq, but haven't seen anything that really impressed me in the limited snaps I've seen him play.
With the Striker position in play now, we really only play 2 LBs. McCloud has basically been demoted to backup so we'll just have to see who wins between Jennings, Wilder, Steed, Joyner, Brooks and Huff for the other backup spot.
Brooks and Huff probably RS maybe play a little on ST. I like Jennings to step into that Mike Smith role.
That wasn’t the question. Who cares if he is serious or not. We haven’t gotten through spring practices and we’re talking about linebackers for September of 2020. What?!? Stupid. He wouldn't of posted it if he wasn't serious. Bring something constructive.
A solid backup core would make wonders for the NOW.
Boosting your self esteem through semantics. Cool. Glad I can help. That wasn’t the question. Who cares if he is serious or not. We haven’t gotten through spring practices and we’re talking about linebackers for September of 2020. What?!? Stupid.
Now if the question was which 2/3 linebackers do we see off the bench or in case of an injury that’s a different story.

Fair. And I agree on the fans jumping off the wagon too soon w/ young players. I just didn't see where you could be getting the "monster" from based on his time at UM. Lot of kids are stars in HS and then it doesn't necessarily translate at this level, but hope you're right about Jennings and he isn't one of those kids.I’m just basing it on having watched him throughout Pop Warner and High School and comparing him to a lot of other players I’ve watched growing up in this area. So my opinion isn’t based on what I’ve seem him do in college but more of what I’ve seen him do and who’ve I’ve seen him be over the years before college. I’ve seen ALOT of Jacksonville’s best players in person over the years and Jennings was one that made a fan of me for sure. We had Aundre Kearney commited from my old high school who fits the “fast and quick” mold, but when Richt and Diaz got here they dropped Kearney to take Jennings away from FSU. In my opinion it was because Kearney was questionable when shedding blockers around the LOS and Jennings had a little more lead in his ***. Both those LBers grew up playing on the same Pop Warner team and had different skill sets, after Pop Warner they went to rival high schools, than when we dropped Kearneys commitment for Jennings, Kearney went on to VT (had 18 tackles in a game last year) than transferred to UCF.
I just think people write off backups to early when they are in a situation like this where they are stuck behind a guy who is a 4 year starter. I’m a fan of Jennings and I think he’ll be a good solid starter for us after Shaq leaves. I’d reallly like to add Jennings little brother in 2021 as well.
