Dont always look into clothing but he did wear this

Nice find. Here's the pic with the img tag.

Tyrek Cole at today's 7-on-7s:

Cole regularly rotates between wearing UM, UF, and FSU gear. He even wore an FAU shirt one day.

I say that to say that no matter the team on the shirt, you shouldn't put too much stock into it until it's ALL ONE TEAM.

And trust me. It's not. Not even close.

Not sure what the butthurt about Stampini and/or his comments is about...it's just info that is being shared and some of it is his opinion.

At the end of the day, all WRs can't be legit #1 go to type WRs.

I completely agree thats why I said dont look into clothing but somebody was going to post this and go crazy about it.

Miami was built on the Dline not the the WR's sorry but it's the big boys that put UM on the map. We need get back to bring in and turning loose War Daddy types that hate everyone. Then sprinkle in the speed guys, because you can run for a TD if your QB is sacked or pressured. And your Running back can't have a 100yd day if he is getting hit in the back field for a loss an almost every play.

Go Canes

That's not really true.

That's the conventional wisdom, but it was not how Howard Schnellenberger conceived our teams overcoming what was a consistent disadvantage we had at the LOS physically. Our guys were smaller and not as physical, especially on the OL, but on both sides. On the offensive side, since we could not overpower physically, he conceived he passing game as the great equalizer against physically superior defenses. He called it the great equalizer, I'm not. Rather than try to overpower stronger, bigger defenses, he called it a "divide and conquer" offense. Rather than having our OLs trying to "lean", he wanted to force the defense to try to run like **** to get to the QB. Then it was the QB and WRs against the defensive back. Our smallish OL's back then were hellaciously good pass blockers, but they were not overpowering run blockers. (Christ Vagotis, our OL coach back then, said it was very hard to teach college OLs to be equally effective at both.)

The quoted words above were his words, not mine. I remember the full statements very well. He realized we were physically inferior, so he conceived a way to overcome it. I'm not as sure how he and Tom Olivadotti did it on defense, especially because Tom ran a read-and-react 5-2 defense which was very effective. I think he used kids who were tough, with high motors, and very, very determined. They were well-schooled, and did not miss assignments. His defense was called the "gap control rover" defense. He wrote a book on it. (Look it up).

You might find an explanation of Schnellenberger's "divide and conquer" in Jim Martz's history of Hurricane football.

By the way, if you guys saw us running Olivadotti's defense these days, you'd probably dislike him as much as Coach D'Onofrio. Of course, offenses were not as good as they are now. His defense was pretty effective, especially against the run.

But the statement about dominance at the LOS is not really true. It's conventional wisdom, but not true.

People who question if Miami can ever be back need to make it out to one of these events. This talent is filthy

ships are won at the line of scrimmage (particularly the DL)...not at WR or RB.

This. **** ridin' Petey wouldn't know a war daddy if he ****ed his sister. He's too busy playin' the role of groupie and fluffin' the girls that play the skill positions with the half shirts. Anyone can catch a ball in shorts, try doing that when your QB is on his back.

Stampini on commit Spence:

Not a fan of the release Miami commit Emonee Spence gets off the LOS. Duck footed, not explosive & a ton of wasted steps. Tap dances at the LOS and goes no where. Possession guy in college and that's it.

Everything he mentioned as a flaw can be fixed real easy with solid coaching, and wiliness to perfect his craft.

since 2004 which is when most people agree that the current Dark Ages of Miami began

how many QBs and D linemen (especially D tackles) were drafted our of Miami?

Some day 2 notes/opinions from our favorite person, Luke Stampini:

Day 1 Top Performers

1. Gulliver Prep 2016 WR Dionte Mullin: At least two one handed/armed catches on the day. One on a back shoulder fade at the goal line where the CB had good coverage and his right arm was the only on free to make the TD catch. The other on a fade where there was good coverage again, he reached out and snagged the ball with his right arm and tight roped his way into the end zone. He's not the tallest (under 6'), not the greatest straight line speed, but had excellent ball skills and hands, perhaps the best in SoFLA regardless of class.

2. Miami Central WR Da'Vante Phillips: His frame is starting to fill out and he is becoming the bruising type of receiver that will make his own space against smaller, weaker DBs when needed. Phillips wins more jump balls than he loses and he showed that with a beautiful catch he plucked off the DB's forehead in the corner of the end zone. His speed is more than adequate, but he's not the type that will blow the top off a defense at the next level.

3. Monarch WR Calvin Ridley: Not his best day by his standards, but yet another solid performance for the talented target. He worked more of the underneath routes today, catching the ball in traffic and showing a little shake for a 6'2" target that is usually the vertical threat.

4. Haines City S Derwin James: He's just a freaky good athlete. I think he's better than Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix when he was coming out of Dr. Phillips. 7on7 eliminates a huge part of his game, which is hitting, and you can still see some of the plays would end very different if pads were on. I think he's best when he's allowed to freelance from his safety position and use his instincts and athleticism to make plays – may give up a big play on the chances he takes, but will give you a couple big plays in return.

DAY 2:

Tim Irvin, playing safety, showed great closing speed from the hash to the sideline on a fade for an INT. Irvin sporting a Miami hat.

TE Devonaire Clarington must have done something to tick off his QBs. Running open but has been targeted fewer than 5 times in these two days that I've seen. Zero this first game today.

Shawn Burgess-Becker in a Miami jacket. Heavy Canes lean.

Gibson has improved as a WR these past 3 weekends. Size and speed would have him in the top group for FLA.

na i would say 2006 is when the dark ages came... We were still top 10 in 2004 and 2005.. Coker blew it thursday night against Calvin Johnson and GT in 2005.. We were one win away from the ACCCG and being ranked number 2 and would of jumped Texas based on SOS and beaten many ranked teams that year..

If only there was a way to teach a kid proper technique.

Allen Hurns was a possession guy. I'll have no problem if he turns out to be another Hurns.

Allen Hurns was nothing too flashy but made plays aaaaaaaaallllllllll day. Give me a team full of Allen Hurns and ill see a future title again

Exactly. People throw around the term possession guy likes it's a bad thing. You need WRs that understand game situations, know how to get open and catch the ball. Plenty of all time greats were possession guys

:fistbump:
