Peter.....Can you talk to this kid and see what's up? He was at NCSU a week ago and it's been reported elsewhere that he went on and enjoyed a visit to Arky. We still good here or what?

Don't sell NC State short. Word is that he is very tight with Brissett and is being sold on being their #1 up there with Brissett throwing him the rock. Their coach has said that if he hadn't had to sit out this year Brissett would have been starting.

This is from Rivals Southeast recruiting analyst Kynon Codrington from Rivals article posted today:
-In our debut of the First and 10 feature two weeks ago, we had pegged Rivals250 wideout Johnnie Dixon as a semi-Miami lock. But after catching up with Dixon, it sounds like he could possibly head out of state. Dixon visited NC State a couple of weeks ago and he was in Fayetteville last weekend. Dixon said both visits went well. Next up for the speedy flanker is a visit to Ohio State at the end of the month, followed by a trip to Tuscaloosa in November. His proximity to Miami may not require an official for Dixon, but the fact he went to Raleigh the weekend of the UF-UM game may be a cause for concern for the home team and the Miami fan base. -- Codrington

///I have learned in recruiting that if articles like this and internet talk start heating up, there is usually some smoke. I wouldn't freak out but I would imagine we are not in as good a spot as we were before. He said he doesn't want to take a visit to UM because of proximity. IMO if he doesn't visit, we are not going to get him even if he has been here 10 times in the off season. That's just how recruiting has worked recently

I much preferred when we were just knocking OP for asking the question. We are thin at WR, so NCST should not be able to pull him just with the promise of early burn. I agree it don't look great if he won't take an OV with us. I'd like to believe he's only skipping it because he knows he wants in and is just having fun, but that smacks of some wishful thinking on my part.

So a recruit enjoyed his official visit. Shocking!

That's the point of these OVs. To show kids the best the school has to offer. Until Dixon comes out and says that whatever school is ahead of Miami, I'm not sweating it.

jcomber, I disagree, especially when they come from people like the guy who wrote that. like mentioned above, he went on a visit and liked it? wow. shocking. it gave him something to think about? lol

Fair point. I'm likely over-sensitive because it involves the one of the two positions I'd really like to see an additional stellar commit on (WR and safety). I'll feel better when Dixon and Cheerios are on board.

It doesn't bother me that he liked his official visit to NC State. What does bother me, however, is how in the **** does a kid that's supposedly a Cane lean schedule a visit someplace else during the weekend of the UM/UF game? That seems a bit odd to me.

I am so excited about the 2014 class that it is difficult to get worked up over recruits we don't have. We do need depth at WR according to Al, but how many can play at one time. I am more concerned that we get the TE position back to what it was. TE is QBs best friend on pass plays.

And why would Dixon want to go play with the QB that could not beat Driskell out? Friend or not, Miami now has a couple QBs that could win the gator job, plus another coming in next year. Want Dixon here, but if he wants to make the same mistake Brisset made a couple years ago in turning down THE U, well good luck to the kid.

Could have been to get a teammate a visit.

" I got on a jet plane for free and travelled to a college where I was fed steaks, got laid, partied out, and had my *** kissed. It was awful. Wish I had been back at the bodega by the bridge this week."

Guys, these visits are always great, and most kids (outside of the dooshbags) are respectful of the process publicly lest they lose their opportunities for their other visits. Don't read into it.
