Continue on the business write off...Depends on your preferences and priority. I donate to the HC because it helps the athletic department. I prefer sitting in the guaranteed Miami sections for big away games. It was easier and cheaper to get club seating for Cotton and Fiesta Bowls. Was able to get A&M tix full alottment. Got the full allotment for CFP championship and used all . Priority for NCAA basketball tournament and ACC tournaments.Other perks depending on your level. So there are intrinsic value for me. It is a business write off for me because of the 501(c) status so there is that. Whatever you can afford and how much you plan on using it is a huge factor, too.
Glad the rest of us taxpayers can fund your “business” write off. ******* “pentagon” dumbass! Sounds like a T26 federal criminal tax case to me.Depends on your preferences and priority. The allocation of ND tickets raises some questions on the benefits of donating to the Hurricane Club as it pertains to away game ticket requests.
From what I've gathered in this thread, you needed to have donated at least $750 to get a pair of tickets at $200 apiece for a total spend of $1,150. Get-in right now for a pair is $610 x 2 = $1,220.
Everyone seems to have gotten Clemson. Those tickets were $140 apiece, while the secondary market looks great at the moment with premium seats already under $300.
Last year's playoff run was a debacle, as A&M had very low supply in mediocre sections and Cotton Bowl nosebleeds were charged at $200 apiece while the get-in plummeted to $65 at kickoff.
It seems the math only checks out if we make the National Championship game, as the difference between face value and the get-in price was in the thousands last year.
Need a more compelling pitch than 'you'll only come out ahead if we make the natty'

Not at all, but thanks for playing!what? you are way way off here, meng
the get in price will be far, far lower than that closer to the game.
Got absolute garbage tickets via Um. Thankfully we are able to access them via Stanfords system and they let you upgrade so that's what I did. Now sitting lower level endzoneStanford tickets were sent out today to those that bought through UM
Guys, you just need to donate more! If you’re a Golden Cane you don’t have to sit upper deck! It’s only $25k!
Seriously though, who is going to fly 6 hours Miami to Palo Alto, book lodging, go out to eat, etc. all in one of the more expensive cities in our conference, and be satisfied with the $60 seats in the upper end zone?
I’m curious, CaneDUD, the putz from Shadow’s old board, do you think this framing helps the discussion?Guys, you just need to donate more! If you’re a Golden Cane you don’t have to sit upper deck! It’s only $25k!

I'm curious, do you think the University of Miami gets to select the tickets provided by Stanford? The visitors section in most facilities aren't great, because YOU ARE THE VISITING TEAM. Some schools give you some tickets behind the bench, those are usually reserved for big donors and the players' families.

Obviously UM doesn’t decide these matters. But that was not the real question you wanted to ask, which you know.
The discussion is about the value of donating as it pertains to away game tickets. Game 1 is showing us that the value is lacking and you’d be a fool to fork over more money for such meaningless returns.
I graduated from UM and love my alma mater…convince me to donate more!
With all due respect, I don't give a **** what you think about how I framed this or any other question.
The issue is this: If you are asking yourself "What do I get out of this" about donating to our alma mater, then you are obviously in the wrong place. If you just want to get the best return for your money, go on a third party ticket purchase website and buy tickets. The whole point of the Hurricane Club is that you are supporting the athletic department, the visitors tickets are a useful perk, just like the cheap sticker is merely something to put on your back windshield.
If it's merely about getting return for your money, then you are bound to be disappointed, because unless you only go to the big money games, it's very likely you can get good tickets below face value at most schools. Stanford is a perfect example of this. It's not Notre Dame, it's not Clemson(provided they are worth a **** this year), it's not UF. Therefore, you are likely overpaying by taking an allotment spot, because Miami will not sell them to you for one penny below face value.
It's amazing that an alum would ask this silly question to begin with. Do you ask this question when you cut a check to the University itself? Don't bother answering, because I find it difficult to believe that someone with your mindset would bother to do so. It takes an extremely selfish person to always ask "What do I get out of this" for everything. I mentioned before that when I cut my checks every year, I do it with a smile because 1)My experience at the University of Miami opened doors and I feel obligated to do my part to ensure that our Alma Mater continues to do that long into the future and 2)I understand that if we want a world class athletic department, we must all do our part. Booster Clubs are a great example of collective economics.
In all my years, I've NEVER heard someone at Alabama, Georgia, etc ask this question, especially when things are going well. There's probably a reason why.
