Attendance ? Fins Vs Canes

Y’all need to accept that the City doesn’t show up for bad Canes teams/games.

This will never change.

When the canes show even a little bit of hope, the city shows up to support them. Same with the heat and dolphins.

The heat were one missed 3 pointer away from the NBA finals last year and have been one of the most consistent nba franchises over the last nearly 20 years

the dolphins added the most exciting player in the nfl this year, have arguably the best WR corps in the nfl and have a young head coach with an innovative offense.

The canes keep finding new low after new low

Too many other things to do in this town than go watch us lose a noon game against a team we "should" beat. us fans keep getting let down after investing hours and dollars just to get blown out at home by duke and middle tennessee, not to mention the other low points from the last couple years.

Recall the ND game in '17. that atmosphere was beyond electric.

"if you build it, they will come"

Watching on tv it seems like the fins always have a much bigger crowd than the canes. For those who live down there, is that accurate and why?

I live in Michigan. Been to HRS for the canes. Only road games for dolphins.
The answer is that the Canes get almost negligible away fan attendance except vs FSU. Dolphins get way more away fans than the Canes could ever dream of.

3 of the Dolphins' home games are division foes each year. That attendance will depend on how each are doing.

The other games the away fans get to see once every EIGHT years here, so they will show up.

Never got the argument that the Canes don’t draw crowds because there is so much to do in South Florida. Doesn’t make sense. if that were true, Hard Rock would be empty when the Dolphins played.
True... but it does make a little more sense when you think about that the Canes play on Saturday, and Dolphins on Sunday, so there probably is a little more going on when the Canes are playing. The real reason though (someone hit on this earlier) is that there are way more Dolphin fans in the area than Cane fans. There are a lot of Gators, Noles, Knights, Owls, Bulls, Panther, Rattler, and even a few Wildcat fans, that live in the Miami area that also are fans of the Dolphins.

I’ve always found that head scratching.

But.. South Florida is full of Dolphin fans, regardless of how trash they’ve been. Which is even longer then UM.

South Fla you could make a case has more Nole & Gator fans then there is UM.

its not head scratching. a lot more kids from SFL go to UF and FSU for school than they do UM. ****, now UCF has a ton of miami kids up there and they come back being UCF fans.

Watching the game last night, the Steeler's fans in the crowd sounded just as loud as Dolphins fans. There must have been a ton in attendance.

True.

Still, Miami has brought more championships to the state of Florida then FSU/UF and the Dolphins.

You would thing over the last 30 years they would have built a bunch bigger fan base in south Florida. Dolphins been trash since Dan left, and every Sunday they games pack for a hot *** 1pm game.

that doesn't matter. kids allegiances change once they go to school. the fins have always had a larger fanbase. theyre a pro team and one of 32 teams. thats it. its not like UM is 1 of 30 teams nationwide.

Bro you keep mentioning kids.. but I’m referring more so to attendance in general.
im saying where do you think it starts. the kids turn into adults go to school become fans of UF or FSU or UCF or w.e., come back home make money but are fans of other schools

If you’re not from Miami, you might not understand what the Dolphins mean to people who have lived here their entire lives. For decades, they were our only pro sports team. We didn’t get the Heat, Panthers and Marlins until the 90’s (Heat in 1989). UM football was largely an afterthought until the 80’s and a lot of the fans that jumped on that bandwagon only did so because the team got really good, really fast. There isn’t a huge alumni base to keep attendance numbers up when the team isn’t great. UM relies on local non alumni to fill a majority of the seats and a lot of those fans won’t bother showing up to boring games against nondescript opponents even when the team is good.

I guess it really comes down to: Pro sports are more popular than college sports. You need mucho students to overcome that.

But the dolphins still aren't that good though. They were barely above .500 last year and 3-3 this year.
A 4-3 team with a chance to make the playoffs. The canes are 3-4 with the hopes of making the papa johns bowl…

Also not taking into account the fins lost their qb for three games. They’re 4-0 when Tua plays and that’s w McDaniels horrific in game decisions last night and tuas lucky dropped ints
