Miami's 2025 season is now less than 42 days away, and the Hurricanes are preparing to head to Charlotte for ACC Media Days, which kick off this Tuesday. While we wait for that event to begin, Athlon Sports has released its rankings for the top running back units in the country, and Miami's backfield was included.

Miami was ranked as the No. 16 best running back group in college football, and the No. 2 running back group in the ACC, as Louisville returns Isaac Brown and that running back...

Louisville is ranked #4 because of muh Isaac Brown and we're 16th with Fletcher/Lyle/Brown?. How magnanimous of Athlon. Even with my orange and green glasses off that seems a bit dubious to me. I don't think we should be top 5 but 16th seems a bit low to me nonetheless especially with the OL we return.

Is floridas unit that good honestly ? Baugh and Jackson? They’re big bruisers but are they really dynamic ? Better than our top 2? Idk

Honestly, I think that’s a fair ranking. We were a lot better last year at RB position with Martinez. Dude was a flat out beast.

Fletch is solid and decent at everything, but he’s not great at anything and Lyle has a lot to prove. Lyle ran roughshod over the cupcakes in the 4th qtr, but did nothing against any FBS school’s 1st team defense we played.

When did Lyles get sufficient carries against FBS schools to make that judgement? I only remember garbage time in the USF game

He didn’t get sufficient carries against FBS teams, because he wasn’t better than Martinez or Fletcher. I like Lyle a lot too, but everyone acting like he’s Adrian Peterson and should have been playing over Martinez.

Yes, Lyle was just a true freshman last season. I believe he’s going to be good, but he really hasn’t proven anything yet. All us Miami fans know about him and are high on him, but the rest of the college football world doesn’t have a clue who he is.

There were a few times he was inserted into the lineup in the 1st or 2nd qtr and our offense immediately stalled. The easiest example was Syracuse, because that was the most recent, but there were other instances.

I’ll say this now, Char Mar Brown, the beast in the back of the room. S**t gonna fly when that mfer steps on the field. Just sayin’ ain’t prayin’

Miami was ranked as the No. 16 best running back group in college football, and the No. 2 running back group in the ACC, as Louisville returns Isaac Brown and that running back group, which is ranked as the No. 4 squad.

The Hurricanes do have a deep and talented running back group heading into the 2025 season. The unit is led by returning standouts Mark Fletcher Jr. and Jordan Lyle, along with new addition CharMar Brown, a transfer from North Dakota State who rushed for over 1,000 yards as a freshman. Fletcher is expected to take on the lead role in the backfield, with Lyle and Brown providing strong depth behind him.

Miami also has one of the best offensive lines to help the run game. Miami is bringing a ton of talent to the offensive line this season. Not only are the Hurricanes returning multiple starters from the 2024-25 squad, but they’ve also added to the group with star center James Brockermeyer and are bringing back several proven players.

However, Miami’s Week 1 opponent, Notre Dame, enters the season with the nation’s No. 2-ranked rushing attack, according to Athlon Sports. The Irish return a backfield duo in Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, who combined for over 1,800 rushing yards last season."

And Geogia ranked #8 compared to #16 for us when UGA couldn't run the ball to save their lives last year is wild. OK we lost Martinez a 1k rusher but we replaced him with another 1k rusher plus everyone else comes back. That list is a joke and whoever wrote it is a clown.
