At what point is Alabama vs Clemson bad for CFB?

It’s likely. Based on talent, I don’t think that Alabama will drop a game until the 2020 season (presuming that Tua goes pro)

But with Alabama and the evolution in recruiting and college spending, it is at the point where I can see the same level of dominance easily going on indefinitely. Sounds like the problem isn’t Alabama. It’s the lack of other coaches having other programs at a competitive place. Meyer bailed again. UGA isn’t there. Harbaugh hasn’t done it at Michigan. Only Dabo has a program close enough to be competitive. So here we are. Hard to blame Saban.
 
I posted this someplace else but I'll post it here. We all know Clemson is cheating, but you gotta give Dabo some credit. Despite bringing in a good amount of talent, he's never had a composite top 5 recruiting class during his tenure. In fact, of his ten recruiting classes, only two have been top ten. I found that extremely interesting.

The tickets are cheap because of the location. Californians don't care about college football. They only care when it's popular to be a fan. If this was played in the south, tickets prices would be normal. Obviously I could be wrong, just think it wouldn't be an issue if elsewhere.
 
when TV ratings drop significantly. No idea why they thought it was a good idea to put the game in San fran.
 
Location affects ticket price but sales being this way down is another story. When tickets are cheap and the locals aren’t even interested that’s a sign that there isn’t much national appeal to this match up.

Bama, Clemson and UGA are spending an insane amount of money buying recruits but the NCAA would rather take down Ole Miss.

It’s bad for CFB becuase at the beginning of the year the media is already bashing the Pac12 before any games are being played. So if I was on the west coast. I’m already not interested becuase all i see is a system in place that keeps these schools at the top and gives a double standard to everyone else.



For starters If they want ppl interested in this game and interested in the bowl games. There needs to be 8 playoff spots. 5 conference champs, 2 at large and 1 spot for the highest rank group of 5 team

Interesting angle. I have some "friends" in the media business who mention this every now and then. Very interesting. Obviously it is a follow the money thing but if you are in the media business and care to enlighten a bit deeper I would find it an interesting read... A level playing field for college football would be cool but probably not reality. When Miami was awesome they had an advantage, THEY WERE ON TV EVERY WEEKEND. People loved them or hated them so eye balls were on the tube.

No one outside of Bama fans or Clemson fans is interested in this anymore. Fans of those two teams love it. The other 99% of the country is over it.

Well, tell them other fans to start flying more banners then. I’m happy to watch the best two teams. ND - Oklahoma would not make it into my evening plans.

But ESPN and the world said that these are 2 of the best fan bases in the country, should have no problem getting people there then right?
 
The fact that ESPN has to constantly tell everyone that they're not sick of this game is proof enough that everyone is sick of this game.

It's nothing at all like Miami/FSU or Miami/ND. Those are/were annual rivalry games. College football is built on annual rivalry games. Those games played a part in determining the national championship many times but they were never "the national title game".

I'll watch tonight's game because I'm a college football junkie and I watch ****** MAC games on Wednesday nights. The casual fan, however is over it. I've been done watching the Patriots play in the SuperBowl every year and they at least play somebody different. These two teams are going to burn out the casual fan.

It’s bad because we get to see just how far our team has to go before we can even grace the same field as them.

Its different because Miami was like a WWE heel. Ironically, The Rock was probably the closest analogue. He was a ****y charismatic loudmouth, and fans would go crazy when the babyface took him down.

Alabama is like the WWE announcing that Roman Reigns is the predetermined winner before each match. No charisma, no one likes him, and there is no reason to watch since you know who will win. They suck the fun out of the game.
 
This is exactly why college football needs the U. Has there ever been a better "villain" in college football? Those former great U teams embraced being hated, which is something I'm sure the current admin would try and stop at all cost. As Razor Ramon says...... Say hello to the bad guy......
 
This right here is the reason I don't care to watch.

It gives me the same amount of excitement as finding out the Patriots are going to be in the Super Bowl.

This, there is little to no parity which is why viewership is done this year.
