At what point did you stop believing in AL?????

I gave up on Golden after the Louisville game this year. Play calling and OL execution stunk. Couldn't blame those on the fresman QB. I lost all respect for him and Dorito after the Georgia Tech game. They coached scared of losing. How can you respect that?

Virginia Tech game in 2013. I had been iffy before that and had a lot of criticisms but was willing to roll with him and see what happened. However, that loss was completely unacceptable.

I was skeptical from the beginning because I hate the 3-4 defense in the south. But I was done after Maryland 2011. Everyone says that I was just guessing and I couldn't possibly have known after one game. Bullshid. The 3-4 and power football just won't work for Florida players. Simple as that.

The 3-4 can work here. Golden just doesn't know what the *** he's doing.

Stop.... just stop

Lol...first off I'm A 4-3 guy but that doesn't mean a 3-4 couldnt work here. The right guy can come here and run that defense and miami will be fine. Not my cup off tee especially in this dat and age but the right guy can make it work.

A lot of people making **** up. There was a lot of pro Golden guys during the PSU ****. Now no one believed in him from the beginning , lol.

Stopped believing in Al when we got shredded by Nebraska in the 1st half, and came right back out in got shredded in the 2nd half. Started to hate his effing guts and everything he is about after the loss to Pitt. Started to not care after the 1st sign of trouble against SC in the bowl game. smh, dude just cant friggin win.

By the time of the PSU fiasco I had long given up any hope that he was a good HC. But that was the first time that I saw that he was a fraud. His mopey demeanor immediately after his failed attempt to bail out on UM spoke volumes about him as a person. At that point, my support went to zero.

It was in stages for me. I tried to approach Golden with a different maturity and perspective than I did as a younger man many years ago with other coaches.

I was firmly of the belief that he needed to get his 4 years to show wether he could instill his plan/system and bring it all together.

I lost FAITH in him last year around the VT/Duke debacles. I think more Duke as I still held out hope that VT was a fluke of horrible luck and circumstances.

Despite this, I knew there was no way he was going to be fired before this year, so I held out hope for the best, and hoped that a strong recruiting class would at least bring us closer to where we needed to get.

I said I would not call for his head until I saw if he could turn a corner this year, and really show the necessary improvement to believe he was the man to get it done. He failed spectacularly. I did feel he got a sh*tty deal here, and had some bad hands dealt to him, but this was the make or break year. It didn't need to be a MNC run, but it needed to be a WHOLE lot more than the disaster the team imploded into. Same mistakes. Same poor playcalling. Same scheme issues. Regression of fundamentals. Players quit. After GT I believed it appropriate that he should be let go after this season.

Of course Im a fan of this program, have been for about 35 years. I will never root for us to lose, or to miss on recruits. IDGAF about Al Golden. I want whats best for this program. At this point, its crystal clear that a new HC is required. Sadly I think its a money issue in getting rid of him, and it looks like we are stuck for another year. All the banners and signs are great, but I don't think its what is going to make the difference. All I can hope for now, is that somehow we manage to land some good recruits, to keep talent coming in for the next staff. They fired Coker for less. They fired Randy for less. I believe they will fire Golden after next year, and probably would have if not for the Shapiro mess and the extension they gave him following it.

Russell athletic bowl. you cant coach when you have month to prepare for ONE game, and it takes you three quarters to get your 1ST FIRST DOWN!!!!

I do blame it on the freshman QB, in part, because they obviously limited the offense because they were scared about what might have happened with a first time starter right out of HS. I thought that was unnecessary, since his high school film was so good I would have taken more chances with him. It's not directly blamed on a freshman QB, but they decided to go with a true freshman, and then decided to pull in their horns instead of attacking. That's on the coaches.

I think that was the problem throughout the season. They'd go into a shell, try to sit on a lead, or even sit on the other team's lead, and not keep attacking. That's in line with AG's mindset, which is too conservative for my tastes, Ultimately, it didn't work.

When Jimmy Johnson was coach, he always kept attacking...always. That's why he created so much hate around the country because he kept attacking in that shellacking we administered to Notre Dame. (I was sitting in the sports bar with other UM fans yelling for him to go for two after the last two TDs, since I wanted an even 60 on ND.) Still, his mentality was to attack, attack and attack. On both offense and defense. That's why I think AG cannot really succeed at the highest level unless he gets that into his thinking, and I don't think he will.

I was never really behind him

last season when we got real aggressive I started to think "maybe"

but sure enough, he folded

My story makes me look like an idiot in hindsight. I remember the Maryland game all too well. I was livid. Bring the DB's up. That was what I screamed all night. Just bring them up. Bubble screens should not be this effective. However, I was an idiot and forgave Al the first two years because I believed he didn't have the right guys for his scheme.

Then last seasons happened and we started off 7-0 and I was digging it, but knew we were lucky and Al needed to be more cutthroat to sustain it. After the bowl game I wanted Al gone.

Fast forward to the season opener this year. We lost and despite my low expectations, that lost drove me crazy. Al's team made zero adjustments and it was obvious. I was down all year until we blew out 3 crappy teams. We played aggressive on both sides and we looked like old Miami. I let myself get excited because it looked like Al maybe was changing. Then the 2nd half of FSU happened and that is when I hit rock bottom. There is no getting me back up. UVA, Pitt, and USCe all cemented me down to the floor. It will take a miracle for me to ever get back on the Al train. He will have to really swallow his pride, change his staff, change his philosophy, etc. That isn't likely to happen. If it did happen, it would peak my interest, but it is not happening and the only option is to fire Golden or drive Miami further away from relevancy.

I think most rational people are here. People saying 2012 and prior are probably not being honest with themselves. Sure there were signs, but the cloud, a good start to 2013, some positive recruiting buzz for the first time in awhile, etc. all had people a little excited about the possibility of climbing out mediocrity.

Late 2013 was probably when he lost the majority of the rational fans. 2014 was for the stragglers late to the party.

This. They ran one ******* play (the wr bubble screen) all game long with our CB's 15 yards back. We made no adjustments. They win the game. One of the 2 they won the rest of the year.

A ******* embarrassment.

the "deserve victory" phrase was a HUGE red flag for me.

I was always taught to earn something and not be entitled to get it.

Back when Jebediah Golden emigrated from Norway back in 1878 and had a very difficult time adjusting to the industrial revolution. Interesting note, he had pillars and a 300 page manifesto on how the horseless carriage was just a fad and relying on a single large, steady and slow horse was the path through the cloud of the burgeoning socio-industrial complex.

Jebdiah was burned at the stake in Salem, MA in 1902.
