At this point are we expecting Lyle and brown to return?

We paid him well to return I’m sure. Someone on the Georgia staff told me his agent was putting out feelers and he wanted RB1 money to leave.

Heard he had a solid offer from USF and would have been their RB1 but didn’t want to go down a level.
why on earth would we be paying a guy who legit sucked well to return?

He earned a MASSIVE pay cut. I have no problem with him returning, but like come on, he was probably making A LOT, and was a complete bust/waste of money. Was CLEARLY 4th best on team at best.

I genuinely cannot believe all these kids decided to come back. It’s shocking. I just hope whoever the odd man out (men?) is won’t be a distraction. Because at least 2 of these kids are gonna be BURIED on that bench unless we have major injuries.

Good problem to have, but I’m genuinely shocked. I’d have put one of Marty, Lyle or Pringle transferring at like -5000.
I could see Pringle being "re"-frustrated pretty **** quick, if he goes back to the 4th back vs. the RB2 he thought he was at the end of the season.

Would like to see Dawson bring back some of the two back sets he ran during the middle of the season. It provided a nice wrinkle in the run game as well as incorporating the backs in the passing game.

With the personnel Dawson has to work with he can be creative with where he puts guys. Bartake, Vaughn, Jones out wide; Mali and Lofton in the backfield would be a unique wrinkle that would create matchup problems for defenses.
yes! didn't see it at all during the playoffs....

We are super quick to judgment here on CIS.
Was Bain a #1 pick last year? - No
Has Damari Brown done a **** thing? - No - he was legit confused looking around to line up at the beginning of the season, then got hurt.
Has Lyle done a **** thing? - No - he was hurtspended, then hurt again and averaged a whopping 18 yards a game.

A lot of time to get better, but judging the live products seems to be criticized here. Especially for the rumored amount of both NIL and roster lock both Brown and Lyle had on our ability to improve those rooms last year. So we could cut the "eat crow" **** right now - because the live results are high NIL, high portal hop concern, low production. Even Fletcher -- was he a high impact RB1 before the playoffs? No, not really and he is one of my favorite human beings on the team.

I welcome a discussion on performance. It's then rushing to judgment on what a player's ceiling is based on that information without considering the circumstances that I question.

I make judgment calls all the time, in some cases writing guys off like Flagg or Judd or Daylen Russell, in others projecting success based off limited information like Rousseau (got that right) or Tate Martell (got that very wrong) or Moten (right) or Jaden Wayne (wrong).

But I don't say a kid is capped when he is injured and clearly not at peak performance -- e.g., Lofton, Mesidor, Fletcher, Chase Smith, Bobby Washington, etc. How can you know? Or young OL and DL who need to grow into their S&C like Moten, Pancake, Kinsler and Jones. Again, how can you know? Those are the circumstances where I say the board rushes to judgment.

I look forward to Lyle proving this post wrong

Very Fair. The board rushes to judgment on lots of things... Crowning the Avengers coaching staff, Lifetime Extension for Guidry... The board largely gets two sets of information -- biased hype or their own eyes -- saying the Browns and Lyles or Pancakes aren't living up to the hype or expectations based on what they see with their eyes is where the battle royales come in... especially when it is let's not bring in someone to upgrade because said player will leave, etc. which is captured a bit here for the players being discussed.

What's there to prove wrong? It's a factual statement. He earned a pay cut. He WAS our 4th best RB at best last year.

After his performance why on earth would he be making even close to like Fletcher? He hasn't proven or earned ****

The point is stop definitively writing our players off who are clearly talented, they can improve and context matters. It was guys saying Bain isn’t good enough to be a top pick and Mesidor should be benched. Leave those type of comments to guys who haven’t shown anything.

2024 Bain and Mesidor were not first round picks -- that is not an unfair take.

Like Lyle or Brown?

Does it also apply to definitely crowning players at Da Gawd or is that why Greentree All-Americans exist?

I can see us schematically moving to more Pony packages with a more mobile QB and having more bodies works.

Yes Bain was projected first round b4 the season and Mesidor was seen as a Second/Third round type guy by most mocks and drafts & guys like you & @Shooter McGavin @cway313 tried to tell us thy were not. Look, we all including myself get proven wrong by players all the time but doubting our best players over & over is asinine at this point. Yes he’s been hurt but We have already seen evidence that Brown is a good talent, the boost he gives the secondary is well worth the risk of keeping him in my opinion.
