At least 4 new assistants coaches will be announced - Barry

Im all for Raymond as DC....just because he is established, doesn't mean he is any good. Just trust Richt on this. Aint like he is a first time coach from high school bought on for his ties to the community

Now that Beamer is gone we pluck Bud Foster..... Hey, no one saw the best D-line coach in the country coming either.

I live in Virginia and talk Canes/VT a lot with some guys here who follow Tech closely. While once thought to be Beamer's replacement, Foster is really a fixture at Tech. He seems happy to be a DC and I think they pay him $900k/yr... and he lives in F'n Blacksburg. I don't think he's leaving to be a DC elsewhere.

Not happening. Rumor was the Fuente hiring hinged on him keeping Foster as DC. For some reason he has zero interesting in becoming a HC and is comfortable at VT as the DC.

New asisstants:

Kool
Thomas Brown
Hartley
and Young Richt

I'm still not sure where this Raymond buzz is coming from other than our fans' hopes.

Richt's son may be the 4th.

This is probably the case

Bad move for Mark. Needs to slip his son in after he makes killing DC announcement bringing in old school Cane defense. Then he can mumble his son name while we are all going nuts. And the kid better not be visible -- let's hope he learned that from Bobby. Give the kid a high priced administrative job but DO NOT waste a coaching position on him.

It aint like the kid isn't qualified for the position of a college QB coach. He has been in the pros as a assistant for years. Golden has scarred us

Actually, this is Jon's first year as a Bills assistant after volunteering at UGA. He's only 25.

thats stupid kid is well thought of enough to have a coaching position in nfl. he has an actual coaching position in buffalo. yet he isn't good enough to have one at miami? really? as for raymond i think he would make a solid dc choice.

id like to point out to those concerned due to coach d that coach d had coordinator experiance look what that got us. some of the best dc's are former position coaches who finally got the chance they needed.

promoting position coaches works not always but more then 50 pct of the time. hiring a dc from another place doesn't always work either. pruitt never fit at georgia for one,.

Nope, just a "coaching assistant."

The fact that things are quiet right now leads me to think that Aranda is coming after Wisconsin plays tonight. If he doesn't, ill take Bo Pelini as DC/LB coach and Raymond as the DB coach.

I would love Aranda but there hasn't been any substance to that idea. No mention really of him coming here or wanting too or even contact. Just brought up as a wish list coach really. Plus he's a west coast guy.

While most of the UM assistants on the former staff are aware they’re not being retained, decisions were still pending on at least two: interim coach/tight ends coach Larry Scott (a possibility to stay, but nothing decided as of Tuesday) and receivers coach Kevin Beard (scheduled to interview with Mark Richt)….

At least four new assistant coaches will be announced imminently, a group expected to include former Georgia assistants Todd Hartley and Thomas Brown and former Missouri defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski, who is especially well-regarded. The man Kuligowski replaces, Randy Melvin, is taking a job at Purdue.

It doesn't matter when it's announced just know it's coming soon. Richt said in the bowl game that majority of the staff is done... Which means he knows who is coming outside of a few spots it just hasn't been announced yet. Let him work man. Quit being impatient

It is my understanding that Foster already has agreed to stay on as their DC.

I don't think first time DC is a problem. Its more of their mentality and schematics would be the concern. I'd rather have Raymond than 50 Al Grohs. The thing about having a defensive staff is having experience across the assistant positions who can have valuable input. I see no problem with Raymond, this guy is highly thought of, coaches have to coach somewhere before becoming coordinators and then HCs. Its more important to know how well they communicate, and not just giving instructions, but also accepting feedback from the staff as well as the players.

Man these conversations are pretty awesome. Discussing competent coaching is nice for a change
