so are texas 3 stars 5 stars in other states too?FINALLY….We just may finally be in Texas….nevermind the stars as these athletes arguably traditionally play the toughest competition, especially in the metro areas. They receive upper echelon coaching (resource wise) and once the coaches trust you, it’s uphill from there.
NEW YORK -- It would be remarkable for one family to turn out one player who would one day reach the NFL, much less two or three.
How about four?
That's the count for the Gates-Scott-Richardson-Whiteside family in Vernon after former ACU running back Daryl Richardson was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the NFL Draft on Saturday and his cousin, former Wildcat defensive end, Aston Whiteside, signed a free-agent contract with the Dallas Cowboys shortly after the end of the draft.
Late Saturday evening, former ACU offensive tackle Neal Tivis was invited to the Cowboys' three-day free-agent minicamp this weekend at Valley Ranch. On Sunday, the Washington Redskins extended the same invitation to tight end Ben Gibbs, who will be with the Redskins this weekend for their free agent tryout camp.
Scott Casterline -- the agent to both Richardson and Whiteside -- said the Cowboys would probably end up playing Whiteside at inside linebacker, and at that position he would have a good chance to make the final 53-man squad.
Saturday's action gives the family four players in the NFL with Bernard Scott (Cincinnati running back) and Clyde Gates (Miami wide receiver) already in the league. Scott is Richardson's older brother and a cousin to both Gates and Whiteside. Gates, meanwhile, is a cousin of Whiteside's.
Negative lol. Texas kids just usually have a leg up on being college ready than most states due to the amount of resources poured into the football programsso are texas 3 stars 5 stars in other states too?
Nope to many bust in Texas . You will see when Texas power house DeSoto gets there asses kicked when they play STAso are texas 3 stars 5 stars in other states too?
Yesh.
Think if we miss out on Glover, Mayfield and Henderson then we could end up with two of the 5 with the three you listed plus Lewis & Williams equaling 5.Looks like 3 hybrid LB/ATH for one spot at the moment?
Whiteside- Most polished and most instinctual
Tomlin- Unlike the others highlights don't show safety…Maybe fastest, most athletic? Looks decent at RB
Proctor- Rangiest, longest of the group…Pause

Keep your teeth clean haha. I’m saying IF we miss on Glover/Henderson/Mayfield, THEN we could/would take TWO of the FIVE LBs listed.I would bet my back teeth we aren't taking 5 LBs, even if there are a couple of hybrids in there.
Glover
Mayfield
Henderson
Williams
Proctor
Whiteside
(Senior evals, etc could factor in)
1 for sure with a chance for 2 more imo (not including Randle) …Unless we have any proof Lewis has grown, I'm not sure he even belongs in this group. The kid is 6'0 185. I don't think Hetherman visiting him is enough of a reason to think he's a LB. Now if he's gotten bigger then maybe ok. There just isn't a reason to carry 11-12 LBs on the roster anymore. We brought 3 in last year (and it seems like all 3 are clear LB, not really any hybrids there).
