Assuming TVD has a great year

You also have cases where kids just stay a year too long (Like Howell)

If you’re ready, you’re ready.

Physically he’s there. He’s also got the work ethic to make it work. Id bounce if I was him.

He’s a 2020 kid.

Pickett stayed and had a true breakout year statistically and Pitt won the ACC. He won the Unitas and was a consensus All-American. Pickett was very good up to the start of 2021. Howell had to come back because he could not declare.

I think Tyler loves being a Hurricane. We will see.

You are correct, sir. He’s a true JR hitting the draft this year.

No one can answer this question without knowing TVD and his circumstances.
So many factors can influence his decision that is too early to even speculate.

He stays if he feels we can make a legit run at the playoffs regardless of money.
Plenty of cfb players on elite teams have decided to stay for the sake of winning it all. That includes our 2001 team.
But if he feels we’re still a a few years away from contending then he’s entering the draft.
So in an era of players skipping bowl games stop avoid a pre-draft injury, you’re confident he stays?

There was no money then. ****.. NIL could include bowl games must be played!! I'd put that in the contract for sure...

1st round, he's gone.

2nd round, could go either way.

3rd round or lower, he's back for another year unless the offense didn't showcase his talent and he transfers out.

I have no inside info.
But some people are just different. He’s an old school type of chowder head. Not too many times do you see a player at qb get so much respect from his team when it comes to setting an example from his work ethic.
I’m basically just “guessing” considering the type of dude he appears to be.
We’ve seen this before on a lot of teams that are perceived as contenders where draft eligible players with early projections decide to stay.

However, it all hinges on what we do this coming season and that is a totally different topic.

I would love to hear Orlovsky's opinion. He is a smart analyst of talent and I think TVD spins the ball, as they say. better than half the guys in the league. On a Rambo first down from the endzone, the commentator said very few people could make that particular sideline throw.

Honest question…but when were we ever known as QBU?

You did @SWFLHurricane thanks for jogging my memory. I was 11 years old when Dorsey got drafted…so I’m sure you can see why I’m not too familiar with the years we were known as QBU. Appreciate the knowledge though man
Think of it this way: you at least got one golden era. Some of our younger community members have *only* experienced pain. I'm so excited for their introduction into a positive UM experience. Those few weeks in 2017 gave us a glimpse of what it'd be like to be competitive.

Not a big fan of Dan O.

Regardless TVD has the tools and size to be a round 1 QB. This year as mentioned he lost his top 2 WR's, and he is learning a new offense. He also has to go to play 2 very good defenses in hostile environments that could have a big impact too.

He struggled @FSU in a hostile environment later in the season.

I agree with J. TVD could have a great year but still not feel that he’s NFL ready. In addition to being a first round pick, shouldn’t a QB have total confidence that he has a great chance of being a top NFL player?

Only about half of NFL first round picks at QB are successful. Most of those are top 10 picks. TVD won’t want to become the second coming of Christian Ponder, Tim Couch, Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez, etc etc etc. A year as a starter would give him 30+ starts in college. That’s experience.
He is full of confidence NOW ... he is expected to have an outstanding season and if he does he will be projected as perhaps the #1 QB taken in the 2023 draft. You don't pass that up if you're a gifted QB with his capabilities. He has a stronger arm than some current NFL QB's and the game appears to have really slowed down for him. Some guys come on slower and it takes more time for them to grow into the position .... TVD is a quick learner mentally and physically is gifted. Garcia will be the guy in 2023 and HE will be fun to watch.
