Where was the grumbling about how hard it is to work for Mario after the FSU game?

True.

Saban was known as a grinder that was difficult to work for…despite that…coaches wanted to build their resume under him.

The difference is that Saban was a great head coach…not just a grinder.

I tend to agree. That's what it sounds like.

I just find it odd that many in here are acting as if this isn't a 24/7/365 job, when it is.

yeah every coach esp college is working nonstop. the assistants and GAs have it even worse with lesser pay than the HC.

People are willing to grind when they can learn something from all the time/energy expenditure and/or when that grind pays off....be it wins in football or pay/recognition/promotions in the real world. In today's world, the learning is about X's and O's, something Mario can't offer.....so it's all on the second part.

Grinding just to grind is not appealing. It gets old real fast.
 
Working hard without results is bull****. You’re working for the sake of working. I get to being a head coach or assistant coach on a major college football program might be an 80-90 hour a week job, but when the boss can’t figure out how to call proper timeouts what the **** is the point? I’d better get a **** of a lot of money to put up with that crap. It’s just not worth it.

I would love to see the meeting calendar for these coaches. What exactly are you doing from 5am till midnight? Actual practice time is limited. There are team meetings. I’d like to see what actually makes up an 18 hour work day.

Mario’s problem is he grinds not only the coaches, but the players, and as the season wears on and wears on his decisions result in losses when the players are asked to give blood sweat and tears for.

All they hear is it’s never good enough. Yet the head coach can’t figure out when to call timeout. Doesn’t understand how to kneel. Apparently has a process for everything, except for how to get a play called on time.

New gameplans
Innovative play calling
Player development
Player consistency
Discipline to reduce penalties

NONE of that happens at Miami so what the F are they actually grinding????

Looking at the product on the field it doesn’t look like they even practice during the week!!!

Exactly my point.

I hoped I was wrong when we got him, but playing under a legend and coaching with another one just doesn’t make you one.

I hate it for him, one of us, great dude…he just doesn’t have the game day chops. We needed a guy who could get his players to play hard against somebody not named UF, FSU or Notre Shame…I guess we are still looking.
