If he leaves you hire another OC, and if he can't work with the guys on the staff they go too. It isn't that hard. Don't force your coordinators to work with guys they don't want. You have a conversation about who is on staff and if a working relationship is viable.

Sorry I'm not buying the let OC and DC hire there own staff. No good coach would allow that.

There is only one boss and its Manny. If you let the OC build his own staff and he leaves than what? Your stuck with a bunch of guys that aren't your guys. That's how dysfunctional staffs occur. Venables is the most highly regarded DC in the game and Dabo still gives him no say so on defensive hires.

I would assume Dabo (and Manny) would take input from his coordinators, but make the final decision.

I guess this signals a change in the entire offense. He has to have an idea of who's coming before he does something like this, and, in fairness, he's worked with these guys long enough to know if they can fit with what he wants to do.
