I would argue the one major difference between Rumph and JT as recruiters is that JT can sell proof of concept whereas Rumph, in the pre-NIL era, could not. So while JT may not do all the a*s kissing that some recruiters do, he may not need to after Bain, Mesidor’s, and what we are seeing thus far in the development of Lightfoot and Blount.

If UM had Mario and NIL 10 years ago I think Rumph would also have been a “better” recruiter. And I am obviously being facetious about the word “better” because whereas we were at a financial disadvantage pre-NIL, we are at least par if not ahead of our competitors in the NIL world.
Yeah. To an extent. For the people paying attention and any recruit truly interested in us Mike had proof of concept as well. I don't wanna keep going down this rabbit hole. But Mike's main issue were all staff related more than nil at all. I'm not guessing. I'm speaking facts. Mike had a title as a position coach & was in charge of developing virtually all of our dbs based on who they would go to for coaching , be it cbs or safeties. But he want allowed the responsibilities of running his room, choosing his recruits etc. he was essentially doing exactly what he does now which was assisting with the entry level recruiting of people selected for him. Then when they'd struggle with people he should have had connections with her be asked to get more involved. Deck was stacked against him. But I'd argue as far as development & on field results proof of concept was definitely there for him

When Florida is good it is extremely difficult to pull kids from that area. It’s like a cult over there. I do a lot of traveling on the road because of my daughter‘s Gymnastics and every time I drive through Jacksonville South Georgia or anywhere in the Orlando area I feel like I’ve entered a university of Florida communal gathering. Let’s say we win at all this year and UF makes the playoffs; in the eyes of those fans both programs are even.

Agreed. He could have had that Dolphins job and stayed. He’s going to be our next DC IMO and they’ll bring in a veteran playcaller as his replacement on the DL. Heatherman will be gone IMO but I don’t think as a HC I think as an NFL DC.
My concern is that he currently still has a son on the roster. Next year he won't. Might be easier to entertain offers if you're not coaching your son. Hope he stays, though.

Got to get used to it
The more we keep winning the more we gonna lose assistant coaches
Will Harris is another one who I wish could stay indefinitely

Then that would show how dumb they are, right?

Yep, had a feeling this was coming. All they had to do was show some life, and they have shown plenty.

Yup. This is why we need to bury the state schools as badly and as often as possible, and always root for their total demise. Our fans are incredibly good at brushing off other programs. Fact is, FSU and UF will always resonate with kids and families, no matter how bleak it looks. As you mentioned/reminded me in the Wright thread, one splash hire and a few games of life can reignite perception VERY quickly.
Funny asf you got some Miami fans wanted those programs back. Fake fans if you ask me, them being competitive hurts us even if we lose one guy. One guy is a loss from our roster to theirs. FUQ those teams

Pure facts.
Did Jimbo need Miami to be good?
Did Meyer need Miami to be good?
Did Pete Carrol need ucla to be good?

We were losing bowl games to bad schools while those teams were winning.

We only need Miami to be good.
And if fsu or UF are good then we need to beat the breaks off of them when we play them.

Why any cane fan would want those 2 teams to be good is plain stupid.

I'd 100 multiple sections of this post if I could.

"The sport is better when they're good" argument is absurd. Who is it better for exactly? Them and their fans?
