Coming into the spring, it was fair to wonder if D’Eriq King would have similar struggles because he is a quarterback that is smaller in stature as well.
After one practice, it doesn’t seem like those limitations are there with King.
King showed the ability to make all the throws and was especially accurate working the short and intermediate game. On deep balls, King throws with a nice trajectory.
After the practice, King made sure to put in some extra time with skill work by throwing into a net, working on his accuracy with throwing on the run and fading away from a pass rusher.
King can manipulate a football at a level that is impressive. Now it is up for him to get on the same page with the receivers and operate the offense at a high level.
The Hurricanes had a solid number of offensive players doing extra skill work after practice on Monday.
Quarterbacks D’Eriq King, N’Kosi Perry, and Tate Martell were all working on throwing into a net off various platforms and to receivers on air.
Wide receivers Dee Wiggins, Mark Pope, and Xavier Restrepo were all working the jugs machine after practice.
Restrepo, in particular, was putting in a noticeable amount of extra work compared to the other young players on the UM roster.
If transfer quarterback D’Eriq King can help set this type of work ethic for the UM offense in 2020, his addition is going to be big beyond this year.

You can always count on reports to spew the same similar messages every Spring. Something along the lines of:
"One thing is for sure, things are noticeably different this year than they were last year" or "There's a different energy around this staff"
Same ol caca.
There's no way this kid doesn't play right away. He just has that dog mentality.
Super Bowl or bust
Elaborate.Straight kool aid.
Any quarterback that played for Miami and slapped fspoo in the mouth doesn’t have to pay for a beer in my make-believe bar. Yes that includes rosierI've done my fair share of bashing Perry... but this article makes me change my mind about him. What it says is true-- he has stuck with Miami and keeps pushing. He may never start for Miami but he could well relieve King if anything goes wrong.
So I give well deserved propers to this kid for sticking to Miami and competing. If Perry left after Williams we would be in a dangerous position at QB2 right now.
QB N’KOSI PERRY LOOKS READY TO COMPETE

Give N’Kosi Perry a lot of credit for sticking around when a lot of other quarterbacks would have transferred out of Miami.
Is Perry going to be Miami’s starter in 2020? Most likely not, but he looked like a player that is willing and ready to compete for playing time this year as he learns a new offense and works with a new position coach.
If Perry continues to have this type of mentality through the fall, there’s a strong chance that he could continue to improve and end up being Miami’s starting quarterback in 2021.
Perry does have some talent and it will be interesting to see how he looks in this new no-huddle, uptempo offense.
With Perry on the roster this year, the Hurricanes have a very solid back-up, which should not be overlooked as well.
Perry isn’t backing down from a challenge and he deserves credit for that.
Endzone fades!but i hope we use him correctly rather than wait til his Senior year, like we did with Berrios.
