Miami Booker T. Washington High School RB Mark Walton says the chances of him reclassifying to the Class of 2015 are now "50/50."
"I'm still working on it, hopefully I can do it," Walton said.
While previous reports indicated it's almost certain he will join this year's class, Walton says that's far from the case.
"I did a lot of classes already, need six more credits to get to 24 and through the whole school year I'll have to take eight classes," Walton said. "And there may be other things I need to get done that I don't know about yet."
He's also going to take the ACT for the first time in September.
Walton says UM coaches "are excited" about the prospect of him coming earlier than expected.
"Coach (James) Coley is recruiting me - he just tries to break down the field with me, show how they are attacking with the running game more last year and this coming year," Walton said.
Walton says he's "solid with Miami" but will take other visits to Georgia and Auburn.
"They've been coming at me hard and they do a great job running the ball," Walton said of those two schools.
So the chance he's still a Cane in the end?
"I'd say 97 percent in my mind," Walton said.
