Artavius Jones, Four-Star Defensive Lineman, Joins Miami Hurricanes' 2024 Recruiting Class

Bump. Whats the word on this kid??? I dont think i have ever heard anyone mention him in any team updates from a progress standpoint. Why is he not playing, is he just a bust or what?
I’m not sure the status on him but I remember seeing him in street clothes watch Mesidor warm up with Jason I think it was the Ole Miss game or OSU game.

He had snaps in some of our blowouts (he was ahead of Russell) but needed to develop as most DT and OL.

It's rare for an 18 or 19 year old to hold up and produce against 21 and 22 year olds. Just look at Scott. He was a 5 star and just recently had started to consistently produce. Look at Moten (probably our best DT) and how long did it take him to become a productive contributor?

Jones was always a project - strong but lacked technique and skill. Let D-Lew do his job - same goes for Carter's boy Newton

I feel you on that. He gonna be a 3rd year guy next year though. I know he came from a small school so i can see him taking a while like Samson did. Taking on our duo blocks in practice must be tough for young DL.

Scott pulled that ridiculous play against Notre Dame but yeah took some time to get that consistency

What a freak show he will be next year

Hope Jones sticks around. Playing WR basically in his highlights was wild

Does his team mate newton take a red shirt this year . One of stats guru needs to make of list of kids who took a redshirt .

If he doesn't portal out, this spring is big for him. It will be his 3rd year in the system and I'm sure he has a decently priced NIL, too.

Assuming they stay, it would be terrific if these guys can take the next step - Jones, Kinsler, McConathy.

I knew coming in he wasn’t going to play early on but 26 will be huge for him. He needs to take a positive step.
II’ve seen him dressed in a jersey on the sidelines in street clothes more than I’ve seen him dressed out to play which is concerning

My guess is he's going to portal out. The fact that Donta Simpson beat him out likely means he isn't Miami caliber. I'm thinking G5, but hope I'm wrong.

I saw him on the sidelines in street clothes. The kid looked huge.

He must have gotten injured in fall camp where he was getting a lot of buzz and then things went dead silent.

The fact thst he was on the sidelines is encouraging. Hopefully, he develops and gets into the rotation next season.

If I had to guess he’s been learning to play with some kinds technique… he was a powerlifter if I remember right so I’m sure he’s learned a simple bull rush isn’t gonna get it done at this level
