IMO these young ends didn’t really get opportunities to show us what they can do.
Bain and Mesi NEVER came off the field! They were #1 and #2 at their position in snaps played. They still put up good numbers playing specialty, limited roles (him and Lightfoot). These guys are gonna eat with s’more snaps and another offseason in the S&C!

Agreed… I think some see young skill players excelling but it’s a different ball game for those in the trenches. He’s going to be well compensated here and unless he gets a mid first round grade or better he should stay put. He’s so young he could be 6’5 285lbs by the time he leaves here.

Very unlikely he'll grow 2 inches. But 285 lbs is realistic.

Mario at ACC media days talking with Rose said Blount came in to the program banged up but he has taken off and is currently 276lbs and running like a deer. so 9lbs in a year is def possible lol

In two years my prediction is this kid is being talked about as a Top 10 pick

We will see how far he jumps this year but I really think this kid is the next one

Exactly. He was out there in the playoff games making plays on pure raw ability. He was on the stunt with Mesidor on the final play against A&M. Made plays against Ole Miss etc

He’s going to be working with Lewis and Taylor and the kid to me has really impressive work ethic and character

Add that all up and it’s all there for him

You never know but, if I were a betting man
 
I think they’re gonna do with Blount the same thing the Chiefs done with Chris Jones in his prime. They basically figured out the other teams’ weakest link on their OL and let Jones eat him alive on 3rd and long. That’s what I want to see Blount doing on passing downs. Whether that’s inside or outside.
 
I keep getting that same feeling I had last season. After studying Hetherman's defense at Minnesota and then watching it in action at Miami, I truly believe this system is built to dominate if the players simply hustle to the football. That's exactly who Blount is. He plays with a relentless motor and is always around the ball. I honestly believe this defense is going to put him in position to become an All American because his style of play is a perfect fit for what Hetherman wants to do.

For sure a seamless fit, even for the stuff heatherman didnt need to implement in year1

I agree with everything you said inyour post and I believe not enough people are talking about Blounts ability to set the edge just as good as Bain or mesidor did last year. That in my opinion is his superpower at defensive end. Will he be able to rush the passer as good as those two, probably not from a moves and Bend standpoint, but he can make up for that with his relentless motor. His size and power is exactly what this team needs to be able to somewhat replace the edge setting ability of our two great defensive ends last year. And not enough people are talking about that and if I’m being honest, I’m getting sick of people that keep saying that yeah but eventually he’ll end up a defensive tackle like @DMoney continues to do. F that, he will be our field side, defensive end this year, setting the edge and we should all be grateful to have him there.
