Even more than the offensive line?
Don’t listen to the idiots you’re right to crap on the D. Trust your eyes and your eyes say this is going to get exposed by ACC teams. Lucky they dropped a bunch of balls and lucky franks is so bad at QB or the numbers would be worse.
My only point of contention is we did run just as much cover 1 (or close to it) under Diaz at times it was our staple but the 3 down lineman sending safety blitzes is fireable right there. No D flashbacks
Miller and chigozie have been the best based on what? Ford and bethel has played way more snaps and the run D has been good.
We went from a Top 3 Defense in 2018 to a sh*tty low-ranking squad this year....
It's NOT about Blake-- because Manny created that Top 3 team last year-- there's no way in **** he isn't involved in looking over the D this year...
What we are experiencing is the drop-off from the loss of these guys:-- these guys were all wreckers on the D....

Now we feel the difference without them and a squad of very green Backfield and D-line...
The LB's can't be blamed because they are now trying to protect both the line and also the middle zone-- which puts them into a "wait and see" mode rather than being able to attack the QB and RB.
Yeah I don’t agree with dropping my best pass rushers in coverage. I’ve seen them spy and drop Greg Rousseau and Garvin in coverage way to much for my liking."infatuation with dropping Garvin to defend the flats"
I can't understand why they do this
We were hitting him hard the CMU QB fell to his knees several times. I don’t understand what people are watching when they say no pass rush.Maybe I saw something different but I saw a QB under pressure, taking shots, getting sacked/stripped, and running for his life all game vs CM
We didn't know until late in the fall camp that two freshman will be starting at both tackles, buddy. We didn't know until the UF game that the consequences would be that disastrous. Nobody on this site thought we would have 10 sacks and a complete inability for Williams to go through his progressions (as slow as that may have been at the time). With the exception of Zuniga, some were citing the lack of returning talent of UFs defensive line. Some were even expecting a blowout. We knew the offensive line was in poor shape, buddy; why should their play be surprising with 3 new starters?
The defense was elite last season with 6/11 returning and more depth but they took multiple steps backwards.
That's what we've been saying. Without a Willis-type tackle, we have to send a LB to get inside pressure. We had the same problem last year when Willis was out of the game.Never when we rushed 4.
We get pressure rushing 4 if the 4 are Miller, Chigozie, Hill and RosseouThat's what we've been saying. Without a Willis-type tackle, we have to send a LB to get inside pressure. We had the same problem last year when Willis was out of the game.
You think Miller, Chigozie can give us Willis type inside pressure? I know Miller has played sporadically but what have either shown to lead you to believe that?We get pressure rushing 4 if the 4 are Miller, Chigozie, Hill and Rosseou
No but I’m saying that line works. You think Miller, Chigozie can give us Willis type inside pressure? I know Miller has played sporadically but what have either shown to lead you to believe that?
Well then that's no different than any other line combination we throw out there. We're guessing to see if we can become more effective. Can they show us something they haven't shown before. And that's not top say they're jags, they're contributors, but they may not have the skill set to get consistent pressure without LB help.No but I’m saying that line works.
I don't think there's a reason to guess if we can become more effective. We've seen that unit as they're always trotted out together as the second unit. They get more pressure on the QB.Well then that's no different than any other line combination we throw out there. We're guessing to see if we can become more effective. We have a talent gap that changes the whole nature of the line. We've had the talent for about 3-4 years with McIntosh then Willis. But there's no one on the roster that can fill it except Nesta or maybe one of the true freshman. Out of necessity we have to adjust the scheme to accommodate that. We may not like it, but the objective is for the defense as a complete unit to put us in a position to win.
unfortunately we can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up firstI wish we could get Hill, Garvin, Rosseau, and Nesta to line up as our DL every play and send them after the QB. The rest would work itself out.
I've seen Miller lined up with Ford. I've seen Chigozie lined up with Ford. I've seen Chigozie lined up with Miller.
