Garvin has the 3rd most pressures of any FBS D-lineman.
I’m the last person to do that but it is what it is. Just keeping it a buck. I know we have narrow losses to uf/unc and should have won, no one is disputing that. But I also Didn’t like seeing guys from a group of 5 school consistently getting that open vs this “defense” baker done concocted upYou can play the coulda, shoulda, woulda Game all day long on here. At some point you have to judge based on what actually happened.
If someone comes on here and talks about Mallory’s dropped two point conversion, the muffed punt, the miss chip shot field goals that make us 4-0 they are slammed as a blind homer.
That’s fine and I respect that because they didn’t get it done. But don’t turn around the next sentence and talk about plays other teams didn’t make.
I hear you. But I've stated for months most were underestimating the impact of losing Willis. I was told, no worries, we have Nesta. Add to that a green secondary. Again, no worries, we have our best CB (Bandy) and Hall Blades and Ivey were ballers.100%. Because we KNEW the o-line was likely to struggle. Everyone (myself included) touted our DEs as being some incredible unit this year. Hands down the most disappointing personnel group based on preseason expectations. It's not even close.
Defense has allowed 18 points in the last 11 quarters.
that is a misleading number
bc in situational football, where our defense had to make a play, it failed miserably
for example it doesn't matter how many points the defense gives up if it cant stop 4th and 17 to basically win the game
How can actual points allowed be a misleading number?
Because they gave up a 4th and 17?
Ok
There was a thread a few months back where we were talking abut Offensive expectations. I said I didn't expect us to be more than one touchdown better per game compared to last year, so my hopes for the Offense were always tempered (although I didn't think Enos would be this boring).Even more than the offensive line?
Not disagreeing. They need to work on stuff, notably being out of position in the secondary too much for my taste. They need to tighten up.If not for two terrible self inflicted TOs inside our 35 yard line by UF they score at least another 6 points. If not for a hugely fortunate stumble by the UNC receiver who burned Romeo Finley with no help up top he walks into the endzone for another 4 points. If not for CMU being CMU they don't have nearly as many drops as they had, all of which were not difficult catches and with plenty of room to run.
A halfway competent offense is going to tear this defense apart.

I expected some drop off at D-Tackle, but I had no idea or expectation that the D-Ends would be this bad. It's kind of shocking.
Never when we rushed 4.Maybe I saw something different but I saw a QB under pressure, taking shots, getting sacked/stripped, and running for his life all game vs CM
Ford has been solid. He isn't a great pass rushing DT but he plays the run well and has shown a few flashes of.pushing the pocket.
Chigozie and Miller tandem > Ford and BethelYou can talk about a lot of guys but you are WAY off base with talking about the DTs. They are controlling the LOS of playing the best run D I have seen from our DL in years. Ford and Bethel and Miller have been lights out against the run. That makes up for whatever they are lacking pass rush wise. Lets not get too carried away here .
my simple and not so subtle response to this is of course, 4th and 17. This is our anti 3 and 43.Defense has allowed 18 points in the last 11 quarters.
