Are we allowed to boo the players in the NIL era?

I don’t think the reasoning has ever been because they are amateurs. It’s because it’s a terrible look. Recruiting is year round and recruits will be at every game. Recruiting is how you win championships. What recruit is going to walk away with a positive impresssion after fans are booing our own specific players?

Booing is an interesting topic because it begs the question; why do fans boo?
We know it does not help players play better, so booing isn’t for in game performance
The only reason then to boo is because it makes the fan feel better. The fan sees booing as a form of expression such that the fan feels some sense of empowerment for being able to express emotion.

Personally I don’t boo because once a game starts I believe every ounce of player, coach and fan energy should be to improving in-game performance. When I coached kids in AAU basketball I never yelled during games. I did all my yelling/correcting in practice. In games I offered only positive feedback. My reasoning was that I wanted my players playing with maximum confidence during games and I wanted my positive energy to become their positive energy.

So ask yourself the question of why you boo players. Then ask yourself if that helps the players or team. Then ask yourself what matters most; team performance or how you feel about your role in the grand scheme. Then ask yourself again why you boo players. If your head has not exploded from this personal experience you may arrive at an interesting answer.

Hopefully our team is good and no need to boo going forward.

I don’t remember too much booing recently of players anyway, but plenty of booing Manny.

Who among us was booing last week?

Miami Cornerback Tyrique Stevenson: "Being booed is just extra energy...the only reason they're booing us is because they know what we're capable of."

The argument has always been that you can't boo an amateur for dropped passes, fumbles, penalties, etc. Has this ban been lifted now that players are no longer playing for free?
I think booing kids REGARDLESS of NIL status (cause all of em ain’t getting paid), is in poor taste…. However for those coaches that’s getting “broke off” with 6 and 7 figure salaries… running ****** product out on the field week after week, is fair game in my book.
