Are things different ?

Edge depth scares me. We can’t lose 3 or 4. That would be a wrap. I did like seeing Pickett flash. That first step is crazy. Wr and out wide particularly concerned me but Moore is living up
to everything I heard when he arrived on campus. Depending on freshmen is just normally dangerous but these guys seems to be a tad different
Not having to fully rely on the freshmans is good. Toney is pretty vital to what makes our O go but we have lots of quality depth at that position that could step in without much drop off. Guys like Moore and Fitzgerald are pleasant surprises but not irreplaceable if they go down or hit the freshman wall.

the only thing that can stop us is mentality, effort, and errors

we wont face a team with a better OL/DL/QB than us the rest of the year, playoffs included

A great job being done by our kick off guy and he's not been getting enough love. The guy is money on hitting the back of the end zone. Do that every time and there is one less thing to worry about.
Yea, you can't have a KO returned for a TD against us if you never get the ball. Kid seems to have a stronger leg than Andy. We'll see how his FG accuracy is going forward.

I want to see when they get punched in the mouth or in a tough environment . How they recover . That’s another step.
yeah road environment against FSU will tell us the environment part (although I dont think FSU is nearly as good as people believe)

but I would say how they responded to win the game both offensively AND defensively against ND was enough for me to check the first box

Still not sure how this becomes a catch

I want to focus on point #4 in the OP and throw in another major thing that has happened.

For years I was considered a "mope" for simply point out the administration didn't give a flying F about the football program. I also yelled for years that our quality of coordinators was also holding the program back...and you can argue that goes right back the administration not giving a flying F about football.

Well guess what's happened, Mario arriving at UM rallied the troops and has led to changes within the administrative set up. We now have an administration that gives a flying F about football and that permeates and becomes pervasive throughout the program. With giving a flying F about football you get resources, and resources allow you to go out and get great coordinators. Great coordinators win you games on gameday.

Shout out to my fellow Deloitte alumni Joe E .......it can't be overstated how much of a difference he has helped create within the culture of UM football. I'm a proud, happy fan again simply because flying F's are now given.

Too early to say this. Haven’t had a real “trap game” or noon kickoff against a middling ACC team, etc. But this team is very good. Better than last year. So if it doesn’t turn out to be “different” then the problem isn’t the players.

I will remain skeptical that a Mario team can continue to get better or even sustain a high level of play all year, until he proves me wrong.

I'm with you on feeling pessimistic. It's been 20 years of being let down over and over again. I think this team is for real, but it has also been so long since I've see a Canes team be for real that I don't really know what it looks like. I'm probably taking the easy road and waiting until after the FSU game, but I will say that regardless, this team has found their head coach.

Mario will never be the sideline general that some gameday coaches are, but as a program builder, he's in an elite group. He has fixed every issue that has popped up, year after year and I think it is inevitable that Miami embeds itself into the top group of CFB programs YoY moving forward.

And for the first time in a long while, I see Mario jawing at the refs on the sidelines instead of having that "what just happened, bubba" look.
He seemed completely dialed into what was going on ...
He has his team now. He can go crazy on the sideline now knowing we about to body someone

Ask this at 11pm Saturday Sept 20

The Florida game will be the test. They arent a bad team nor a team Miami will beat easily. They are just poorly coached

Lagway can play, hes not the hype everyone has made him, but he can play. They have players and their D might be good

Miami will have to play clean, no mistakes, and Dawson and Mario cannot coach this one tentative

I think that Pickett and Lightfoot are good, but they are still not the caliber as Bain and Mesidor at this point in their college careers. I do think that the depth as far as next guy up year after year is setting up nicely, depending on how Lowe rehabs from whatever his injury is.

They’re one trick ponies currently. They aren’t ready for every down.

We still need a game breaking RB, one more top WR (Trader), and one or two more elite edge rushers

I also think we need to run some diferent sets on offense and we saw that against USF. The under center run plays need to be used more
Did you not see the running play with the jumbo set with 3 RBs? Or the I formation plays? Or the empty backfield plays? I saw ALL of them run last night. How many more different sets would you like??
