Are “we” overconfident?

There is no media outlet that has picked Stanford over Miami outright. Maybe some gambling publications that don’t think we cover but until OP shows us the source, I’m going to assume he’s just lying.

I don’t think so…the expectations should be through the roof.

Said from the very beginning…as our OL goes, so goes our offense. We expect them to come into form, and they should. Early season breakdowns here or there with the youth shouldn’t shock us.

The obvious pitfall must be avoided…lackadaisical play expecting to win and just coasting for 1-3 quarters. If we can dodge that bullet, Clemson and the Shame should be gettable good games.

Bottom line, win while our new pieces on offense and defense get reps and learn to gel…

All of our losses last year were due to penalties poor offensively play calling and play and QB. I think we have more talent overall than last year and the players that went to the natty are very motivated to attempt to return. If we cut down on penalties and our online gels on paper I'm not sure who can stop us notre dame loss a lot on offense and who knows what clemson is gonna look like this season.

I think we will win a lot of games comfortably but we will likely be in a couple of dogfights that's the nature of the best.

We've also NEVER won the ACC and for 2+ decades now have dropped multiple games as 10+ point favorites. I guess until proven otherwise, it's fair to predict at least ONE upset loss.

So 10-2 would be the absolute acceptable floor in my opinion and would still be a major disappointment because it'll mean another upset loss.

6-3 in the ACC does NOT make the ACC championship. What you read was either what @cowboycane posted about Bill Connelly's article where he expanded upon an OUTLIER or some bull**** hot take engagement bait on social media.

This, by all measures, should be one of the best teams we have fielded in decades as you mentioned. Couple that with the coaching staff consistency and culture building and there shouldn't be a reason to be not confident.

I’ve never picked Miami to ever lose a game. I certainly wouldn’t pick them to lose the Notre Dame. I am so confident that I already have my 2026 national championship rocks class.

6-3?! Name the losses. No Louisville or SMU on the schedule (or Ga Tech)
 
Absolutely not.

We essentially have the same team as last year, except with a
- Better QB
- More DLine Depth
- More Speed at WR
- Better playmakers at TE

The only real drop off is experience at OL & Nickel.

The OL will be fine despite being younger, they're equally if not more athletic, just don't have the reps.

Nickel in coverage in particular is a question because what Keionte Scott brought to the Defense in instinctual capabilities is difficult to replicate. But with the imminent emergence JJ Dunnigan, it gives us a versatile piece in the Secondary that can allow for multiple coverage looks that can supplement for Scott's absence.

The LB's are both grizzled old *** vets. However, there's a health concern with both & potentially movement in open space is an aspect to pay attention to throughout the season, as teams will look to put them in one on one coverage situations against their RB's, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

But the overall collection of talent on the team is better than last year, which means the expectations should be similar.

It's rare for a team to get a better QB & somehow devolve in play. And we have easily one of the top 3 best QB's in the Nation, combined with the rest of the roster, there's not much other logical summations that can be made other than Deep playoff run with another Natty appearance.

As far as the Stanford game, we're going to beat the Sh*t out of them.

An already banged up bottom tier ACC roster, turning around in 7 days going up against one of the 5 best rosters in the Nation on 8 months rest.

Plus, Stanford is a Pitt-like Brostyle team that wants to play NFL ball in college, or in other words, they have no explosive playmakers so they have to slow every game down in order to have a chance. That will only work against teams that are one dimensional & can't move the ball in multiple ways... Which isn't us.

It'll be blowout.

If our guys can just pass-protect, we're golden (not as in Al). We'll be okay.

The OL will work out the kinks in the first four games.
