- Respect. He has to be able to get these South Florida boys to buy-in and go to war for him. There has to be respect on both sides. You try talking to a South Florida kid wrong and it's OV

- Staff. He needs to bring in a strong staff with some ace recruiters on it. You can run a perfect offense but if you don't have the athletes to execute and score then it's useless. 3 star kids will not win you the ACC.

Same narrative when Diaz was hired. Key on offense is developement especially at OL, it’s not hard getting 4 stars on offense for us but guys need to keep developing. Defense developed 3 stars into great starters like MJ, Pinck, Redwine, RJ and Norton.

Applewhite strikes me as a straight-shooting no-nonsense kind of guy, but not a d!ck about it. A lot like Diaz but a little less intense. He seems like a good fit for the staff and the scheme we want to play on O. TBD if he's a good fit for South Florida.

I think that has a lot to do with the scheme on D too. Put a three-star guy in a D that fit his abilities and he shines.

On the flipside, take a guy like Howard or Chickillo and put him on D that doesn't suit him, and he busts.

This is also a bit about Diaz preaching effort and getting buy-in.

We have a lot of the talent on O (sans the line) to be successful this season. Not great, but definitely better. Put an explosive offense on display that utilizes guys like Pope, Lingard and Jordan right and that's all the recruiting we need.
