App State @ Tenn

Tenn didn't have a good game plan last night, or they purposely chose to be conservative in their play calling because they really don't believe in Dobbs.

You allow a team like App State to stick around of course they are going to play inspired. Their opening score came off of a short field. In addition to the uninspired play and bad play calling, Tenn basically tried to hand the age to App

Richt is a better coach than ButchAl GoldenJones. Richt respects his opponents, we'll be better prepared, and we have a demonstrably better QB, TE, and WR's

IMO, it was slightly more so that App St. played great (especially defense) than UT played bad. UT was #9 playing a nationally televised primetime game opener, pumped up at home and App Sy brought it straight to them.

My only true concern is their running game, their RBs get north and south really fast with no hesitation and pure intentions.

Very well-coached team all-around and fundamentally sound. They must have great position coaches. After watching last night, week 3 was a sure-shot loss by a Golden led Canes team.

We must protect the ball to win this game, and I think we are going to be surprised by how well the LBs play this season. We have to remember who they don't have experience being coached by.
I disagree with the first part. They were very weak and made many mistakes. No way an sec team slated to contend for the title should be being manhandled by app state.

Not a knock on app state we all know they are well coached but the talent difference is very real, as is the physical defense. Tennessee got owned at the line of scrimmage and that is very much them playing poorly based on expectations

honestly this was the best thing to happen to us. i hope the media keeps this up.

app st and media are gonna be C0cky as **** going into that game against miami.

we'll show up ready. no doubt in my mind.

Didn't watch the game. Is App St. someone who might give us problems, or is Tenn just that massively overrated?

App st will not be a push over and I have a feeling Vegas will have this as a very tight game.

They have a very good D. Yes they are small up front but very quick and were getting pressure with 3 rushers at times.

They sit back on D and make you work your way down the field. They gave up one big play all night.

On O they are not as good ,though they have some speed at the skill positions but not much of a threat through the air.

App State won't have the luxury of surprising anyone by the time we get up there. Game film is a gamechanger.

Agreed on all points, but I think Kayaa and our offensive play calling will eat that defense up if they give us the underneath all day.

Did UT even have a sack? I know at one point they didn't but I ended up fast forwarding through a lot of the 3rd and 4th quarter. I think app state will play even more inspired at home but a healthy dose of Marquez Williams on the small dl will soften them up big time. Them boys tackle very well but they played with a lead the whole game. Take that away from them early and their game plan will go out the window. Miami rolls!

It's a bit of both, but more that Tennessee offense is trash. I honestly think Tennessee's defense did a nice job bottling up App St. once they went one-dimensional. If we can do the same job on defense that UT did, we win easily, IMO.

Meh, it just confirmed what I already knew. App State is decent and Tennessee is horrible. The game in Boone won't be a walkover to the tune of FAMU or FAU but Miami should win easily. 17 points or more. Tennessee can't complete a forward pass and despite being much bigger and stronger, they tried to out finesse App.

This was really about Tennessee. For a home opener, they were flat and should be embarrassed. Reminded me of the Jacksonville State/Auburn game last year. Auburn struggled and got lucky and won in overtime. What we learned is Jacksonville State was going to make some noise in the FCS which they did and Auburn wasn't very good. They were awful in league.

What we learned last night is APSU is possibly winning the Sun Belt and Tennessee isn't winning the SEC East. Tennessee did us a favor because Miami doesn't roll in and take APSU for granted. Ends up being a good business trip against a competitive team.

I will say I'm not exactly looking forward to having them try to run it down our throats. They do have a solid Run blocking OL. I guess it will be a good test before GTech and FSU though.
The thing with them is they know they can only score so many points, so they try to limit the number of possessions. We definitely can't be careless with the football against them or we could really ***** ourselves. I expect our offense to handle business, but this will be a great game to tell us just how good our FR LB core is.

I expect to win by double digits, really depends how efficient we are the first few drives on offense.

It's not just that: the Canes offense will be qualitatively different than the trash Appy State saw in the Vols. It's also that by being forced to cover Coley, they entire center midfield is opened up for the TE's and the running game, which is where I think Richt will go after putting some air ball points on the board.

He'll want to take the crowd out early.

And that Dobbs is overrated. Never thought the dude was good. But him and Chad Kelly are the SEC's Watson and Kaaya, as if either are even remotely in the same league.

I think people are forgetting we have mark richt calling plays now. I'm not worried about app state defense

If the kid had made the extra point App State wins. Simple as that. With that said, vols are weak in the trenches on both sides and average at WR and RB. Great thing about the season is that all the prediction crap goes into the garbage. Games are played on the field not in studios.

That said, Richt will be looking at this game closely. Appy State will be primed for the upset: sellout crowd, home field. Everyone remembers Cincinnati from last year?

i remember inept coaches calling both sides of the ball........................
