App State - Jet Sweeps and Outside Zone Reads

Too many ******' threads on the same **** topic over & over again...

Smh... Just say you're shook, and go hide in a closet until game day.

Our scheme is well-suited to defend against Jet sweeps unless the Nickel (Jaquan) or Will (Pinkney) lose leverage on their side pinching too far inside AND the Safety behind them fails to fill the alley. A couple of fake bubble screens may initially catch us as Jaquan or Pinkney read the slot WR and we're left with Carter or Jenkins being forced to make an open field tackle, but generally it's not what we should be concerned about.

Our biggest concern against the run game is inside or the running QB. I suspect Diaz will adjust and show more single high safety than he typically does because of it.

So, if you're just watching at home, look out for whether we're playing 2 safeties deep or just 1 in the middle. It'll tell you enough about what we're trying to stop. If Mcintosh/Norton/Willis have big days and slip their inside doubles and chips that allow the G/C to tandem against DT and still get to Quarterman, App State is going to have a long f'in day. If they're successful there, we may see some of those gashing runs I've told you I worry about.

All in all, I don't think they can do that consistently enough without a viable QB threat to hit 12-15 yard in routes between our LBs/Nickel and Safeties. If that were the case, like it will be against FSU, then I'd say we're in for a war. I think their QB is too inaccurate for that consistency and therefore I bet on Miami to cover.

I'm totally confused by the line and not sure what I am missing, though. F* it.

I've said it elsewhere, but I think that Vegas is trying to get people to buy the hype on this one and take App. No way this line makes sense otherwise.

Also laughed nervously that one of your comments could be rephrased, "If our Freshmanz do their job it'll fall to our Seniors to do theirs and I'm not sure that's what we want."

vegas uses algorithms that run the games 100k times before the lines are set. it is all machine based now.

I think your analysis of their off vs our def is spot on. But what you're missing, in regards to your comment about the line, is how good their defense is, and how we've struggled to throw the ball and get into any kind of rhythm.

The O/U is pretty low for a CFB game, so I expect them to ground n pound and use the clock. I also expect us to ground n pound (albeit at a quicker tempo, but still chewing up clock).

This will be a game going into the 4th. Hopefully we wear them down and Walton/Yearby go off in 4th. Turnover battle and special teams could decide this one (which is so often the case in close games).

The super fans on this board don't wanna here about mathematics/statistical analysis. They say canes win by 30+, and if you don't agree then you must be either 1) young, or 2) a pu$$y.

How can anybody who knows football take this team lightly? We don’t even have to say that to our guys. They’ve seen the film. They watched them play against Tennessee. They know.

...this is a really good football team and everybody knows it and we’re geared up to try to do the best we can to play great...

Vegas does not give 1 **** about who wins or loses. The lines are set to sucker the most people in to make a bad bet and lose. Even Applantation State's version of DBC knows they are getting waxed this weekend.

we were -25 against FAU, and somehow -3 against App State.. am i wrong to think app state is only slightly better than FAU? or are they MUCH better?

I actually thought FAU looked pretty quick. Just don't have the athletes we do.

I believe strongly that we should give app the respect they deserve. They're a hard playing, well coached team. That said, the only way Miami loses is if they shoot themselves in the foot. Several times. I won't make a call on the score, but there's no excuse for thinking (or worrying that) we will lose.
