Butch Jones reminds me of Randy Shannon. 5-7-9 win pattern, ranked highly coming into year 4. I'm pretty sure the Canes were in the top 10 coming into Shannon's 2010 season.

I hate the concept of preseason polls. I swear I do. They aren't based on any particular standard and are written by people who've never been on a football field outside of holding a microphone. Rankings should drop week 6 then CFP rankings week 8. That's how you filter pretenders out.

Therefore creating this myth that everyone has to be good in the conference. Your sane take on Tennessee doesn't excuse buying into the constant false extreme optimism that all SEC teams get going into every year. This is the year Arky turns the corner too, right? Maybe Texas A&M will be perceived as a decent team too......even after they lose their 5th game. It never ends. What you're buying into regarding LSU right now could be said about 20 other teams.....except they're a "marquee" team in what we're told is the "marquee" conference so you won't hear those cases be made as often or as convincingly in the national media.
