MALIK ROSIER, QB, Sr. — He led the Hurricanes to the ACC title game last season. But it's unclear if he'll even have the starting job this season.

The media is the worst!!! I would have gone with Hightower or Rousseau.

Malik Rosier got Miami to the ACCCG his first season as a starter and first season taking competing for the job seriously.

I think it’s smart to mention him as being a potential breakout player which would only mean good news for us.
 
Set the record for TDs in a season by a Miami QB. It would be irresponsible not to include him on these preseason lists to cover all bases.
 
I see we have a lot of Malik fans here. I just don't see how he qualifies as a "breakout" player. If anything, he "broke out" and made a name for himself last year, even though he was far from outstanding. In 2018, I don't see him getting significantly better. He's a a senior. What can he possibly do that he hasn't done already to up his game?!?!

So the fact that he's even on this "breakout" list is highly questionable; there are tons of better candidates on this team who could have "breakout" seasons. And the two sentence endorsement he gets from the author is hilarious. The guy might not even start!

A lot, just like every other player in cfb.

I personally hope he's a Heisman finalist. That means we're probably in the playoffs; ****, Malik had us 1 game from the playoffs last year. Yall just be hating on the kid because he wears a man bun...
 
I would be ecstatic if somehow Malik Rosier became this complete quarterback but I just don't see it happening. If he was really making this "breakout" type of push, he wouldn't be deadlocked with a couple of freshman for the starting quarterback spot. There's room for some slight improvement (he can cut down on his ACC leading interception total) but his ceiling is low. It's not some type of mental hurdle either where all of the sudden, a light will come on and he'll be able to make plays. He's limited physically. His baseball throwing motion will not change and his accuracy issues will not improve enough. I can see a marginal improvement. Maybe cutting down turnovers, completing a better % of short passes but he is what he is at this point.
 
Articles like these are just what the media observed last year. Malik struggled but managed to get us to our first ACCG and FSU win in YEARS. They don't pay attention to every interview Richt gives or every spring practice like we might be in tune with. From the outside it's easy to name Malik the breakout star.

Personally I would give the breakout name to Travis Homer. Going to have himself a year.

It's not "hating" when a young man is given grief for sporting a man bun... that's just solid mentorship.

Wrong!!! We don’t care about the bun! We care that he’s not that good at all to be mentioned as a breakout player! He sucked last year and his struggles throwing the football continue, specially that daunting bubble screen(throws to the feet of the receivers, overthrows etc).
 
I just don't see it happening with the type of player Malik is. Will there be some improvement? Yes. But I just don't see his accuracy issues changing any time soon. I feel like we have not won a game because Malik just solely dominated the opponent. That isn't the type of player he is, and I don't expect that to change.

Well, he's still here. Projected starter, best QB since Ken.

He didn’t start over Kaaya with two different staffs. And it wasn’t close

Oh and Brock Berlin (in shotgun) over Malik Rosier too
