Campbell is cooked here brother. He is getting lapped by the youngins and not playing. So unless he is hurt (and if he is then I take this back), then the writing is on the wall.

I'd say these 3 are vastly different prospects.

Francis was the furthest ahead athletically. Bell had the measurables but needed to catch up with experience and strength (tireless worker btw) and Cantwell is still adjusting to the speed but at this point looks to be the least athletic of the 3. Some of that could be a nagging injury. Right now he does not play as fast as Cogden for example. Seems tentative at times.

Well, I did write "even Campbell". We always knew he was a project. Maybe the light comes on. I just wouldn't write him off unless he's playing for another team next season.

I have Joel at RT with Hawks. Wilkerson has 14 snaps vs FAMU and Campbell has 0 snaps so it is tough to say that they are developing.

He did look a lot better in clean up duty at LT than he did at LG.

I don’t think he’s ready to start, but I think we should be fast tracking him to be the swing tackle for both LT/RT. If he doesn’t play a ton this year, that’s okay, but he’ll be ready for next year.

I hope you’re right. In an ideal world he starts at RT and McCoy would play RG for me but I’m not an OL expert. I played DB in college.
 
The amount of fans we have that love to talk **** about our players is amazing. 3 years ago they would've all given up on SO63 cause they know so much about OL play. Maybe leave the roster build to the people that see the players daily.

Yeah definitely need the reps. Hope to see more explosion at the POA though.

Samson is making himself money at LT. he may end up at RT in the nfl but his work over the last four years is paying off.

SJ- get better at snaps or start dropping weight to play FB.

By December, we likely will have 7-8 kids that are starter material. The big question, does Cantwell or Hawks push McCoy inside over Maxx? At this point, Congdon is on the path to move SJ to backup center by December(likely October).

Samson, Congdon, RR, Maxx, McCoy is the likely the best group now. Disappointed that Pickett didn’t get snaps at OG but that will happen in time.

I think Cogdon's future is a at tackle.

McCoy has been excellent in right tackle. You just got a bunch of idiots on here calling him out because he had a false start. Give me a break, he’s been an excellent right tackle. End of the day we got two book end tackles and the interior already looks better with Ben in there. We’re gonna be fine.

I’ve rewatched the tape a couple times. He hasn’t been excellent but he hasn’t been close to as bad as some on here have claimed.

I don’t take much for PFF but PFF hasn’t rated as the third best right tackle in the country. Again, take that for what it’s worth. But regardless, he’s not as bad as people make them out to me and I think he’s been pretty good.. definitely better than expected.

He has hardly played at OT. Cantwell, Hawks, Wilkerson have all played or this year. I’m not sure I’m willing to say Congdon is better than any based on OG play next to one of the best OT in the country.

Samson played guard all last season and then slid over.

Cogdon's one of the best 5 now and will likely be the best lineman if/when Sampson leaves. His length, feet, and athleticism give him excellent range that isn't maximized at guard. I'd be surprised if he doesn't take over at LT when the time comes, and if Cantwell overtakes anyone it should be McCoy at RT.

Next year we shouldn't have to portal anyone. Woodrow (has some nasty) and other guys like Hawks and Ervin (strong) should take steps forward.
 
McCoy has been taking a ridiculous amount of heat in here. Yes, the mental mistakes in pass protection the false starts and holding need to be cleaned up. But he's also been by far our best run blocking OL, and that part of his game shouldn't be ignored.

Samson hasn't had the same pass-protection issues, but his run blocking leaves a LOT to be desired. There have been snaps where it's downright ugly, yet nobody seems to want to talk about that side of his game.

The interior OL was one giant cluster**** going into the CMU game, but with Congdon and Merriweather in there, it looked night and day compared to SJ and Buchanan. Guys were staying square, recognizing and looking for work, and actually communicating. We even saw Samson communicating with the young guard next to him, which is something that has been sorely missing from this line. It's not perfect, but it's how the line should've been if we were going to go with the talent we have.

And pass protection isn't entirely on the OL either. The backs have responsibilities, and Mensah needs to do a better job of setting things up and handling his responsibilities in protection. When something breaks down, it isn't automatically the OL's fault.

Ultimately, the blame needs to go higher up. The staff put too much stock in guys with little to no playing time instead of addressing the interior through the portal. You can't have this much inexperience on the line when you're trying to win a championship. If we weren't getting that horrific play on the inside, nobody would be having nearly as many conversations about the tackles or McCoy's mistakes. You can't leave a glaring weakness on the interior and then act surprised when it exposes the rest of the line.
