Anyone hear anything on this?

You are most likely correct but there is absolutely a possible scenario where Richt is given the option to make major changes, resign or be fired. The next step seemingly would be for Richt and the University to negotiate a payout amount. Richt would of course ask for as much as possible. At that point, the University would have to choose between paying the full buyout in his contract or meeting Richt’s demands. Maybe I don’t know enough about contracts but this seems like a plausible timeline of events to me.

If you take what's written to start this thread, then change everything about it, yes, it's plausible.

If a head coach requests to quit you let him. If his heart and mind are not in it you don’t talk someone into staying and making changes. If our BOT told him to stay then we are screwed at an admin level. If Richt stays we are screwed at the athletic level. So either way we are hosed.

"Richt requested to quit and wanted a high buyout"

Not sure where you're coming up with Richt requested to quit = BOT requested he quit.

"This Is Not How Any Of This Works" isn't just a river in Egypt or just a good name for a band.

The reason why I think this could happen is because I’m confident Richt would rather ride off quietly into the sunset, with a bunch of money, as opposed to being forced to fire his son and friends.
No way!
Yeah, trying to reconcile the meaning of this.....lol.
If it works, I'm going to my boss' office after these holidays, tell him to fk him off and
then request 18 month severence of salary.
Caneswag just put crap on the board and try to see how many would react to this BS thread! When I get back from vacation I am taking your advice and I am quitting, but demanding 2 years of wages!

Just a thought -
He has been getting a lot of heat this year, he defiantly looked like it had gotten to him by the end of the year.
His press conferences looked like he was on heavy meds.
Goes to NY and they use less than half of the allotted practices, isn't that a big reason for a coach to go to a bowl game? All the extra practices.
This trip did not look like a business trip, looked like a vacation trip.
Is he thinking about retirement? Maybe.

This is exactly how that initial post was qualified by the original OP. There are several people posting on Rivals with information coming from different sources. Info from both has been consistent. Seems like there will be some kind of resolution by the end of the weekend. That's what I have gotten from everything posted...

“Richt requested to quit...” Not sure that means, “I quit, pay me”.

Could actually means the BOT requested that he quit/resign and he asked for a high buy out.
Thank you. I was wondering if I was the only one to see it that way. I’m very sensitive to amiguities in English.

If Richt is holding out for his full contract then what we all wondered might actually be true.

He was here to collect his retirement and success one way or the other wasn’t of consequence.

If he did great. He’d stay a few years and get 20-30 million. If he didn’t he got a nice chunk of change anyways, got wifey a couple hundred grand for her few years of service and got little Jon Jon a cool million for 3 years and and something to put on his resume....some kind of overblown description of his job here I’m sure.

Guy was in a no lose situation and the only losers were the program and it’s fans.

The discussion here is less logical than the premise of the OP. We know Blake and Rocht have spoken, because how could they not have.

Not hard to imagine Richt, coming off his ‘no changes’ speech and humiliating loss, tells James ‘if you’ve lost confidence in me, maybe you should buy me out.’ A comment like that opens the door to a feeling out that will not be accurately quoted.

Richt may stink, but he isn’t insane. He knows he’s staring a rough road in the face. He knows he has very little water left in the well, both on his side and in terms of credibility with the team, fans and institution. The idea he wouldn’t take a buyout is silly.

You’ll read a lot of rumors, but don’t kid yourself - Richt knows he’s failed. His face and emotions have said so loudly. He doesn’t want to fire his son or make any tough decisions at all. He would take a rich, quick exit over a painful and slow one in all likelihood.

CIS has some excellent trolls. This is among their best work.

just Get the **** football team winning. Showed last year the city supports a winner.
If we go through another year like last, the toxicity will be worse then Golden’s final year and they will have to fire him mid-season
