anyone else starting to get usf vibes?

miami fans are hillarious. I am not saying I am scared of FSU or I think they are a great team but they did beat a pretty talented Bama team. this game might not be as easy as our fans think. we could dominate if we dont play as sloppy as we played against florida but it is more likely that its going to be a close game,
Couldn’t care less about style points. It will be a battle but we should win.

Just get the W, and get back home healthy.

Bottom line is
If this team is what we think it is a true top 3 caliber team
This game is no issue
It will look like the old Clemson games when they just beat you down across the lines during their prime run vs the acc
My eye test ( after seeing jags for 20 years I have a really good jag detection skill ) tells me this team is different and elite
I expect this to be an easy dub
Their win vs bama is all Mario need to keep this team
Focused
I would be more worried if fsu was 3-1 with a loss to bama

when you dive into their personnel you see alot of similarities outside of qb ... similar defensive schemes, size at wr ... they have a little more size in the middle with jackson, but everything else is about the same ... rebuilt offensive line ...

obvious difference is the venue ... but i'm struggling to see any decided advantages for them
They are just like USF. If they wore any other jersey we would expect a 30+ win, they aren't good
But it's a rivalry

Absolutely, 10000%.
I expect very little in between the tackle activity early on. They will stress the perimeter until we show we can stop it.
This was the one area I felt UF had success running on the perimeter and Price at ND was also successful there. I know Heatherman has emphasized the heck out of setting the edge and eye discipline this week. The boys are locked in. FSU will have some big plays but I think we can push them on both lines

FSU's only speed on O is with Danzy and Squirrel at WR. Danzy is not really a pass catching threat. His threat is handing him the ball, jet sweeps, reverses, double reverses. They use tempo with that stuff. Duce, Squirrel and TE Pittman are the receiving threats. It's all about pre snap motion, misdirection and tempo. Classic Malzahn! Their OL is slightly better than last year. I keep saying, they will break some nice gains on us, but we will also have Castellanos running for his life and I bet inconsistent Cas.will make a showing. I am looking forward to our DE's against their T's. When Lightfoot gets in, he better set the edge. Chase better get 25 snaps against them like he did USF. I am probably most intrigued by Dawson's play calling. He finally has a healthy Lofton, JoJo and Lyle. I want to see Loften get the ball, a big WR rotation, opening it up with some deep throws, Moore. I don't want to see us go completely conservative again this season.

the false starts and snap infractions against UF esp in the red zone were drive killing.
Outside of USF, agreed.

We blew a chip shot FG vs ND due to a bad snap. Then we took the foot off the gas after getting a lead.

We should have had a 16 or 17 point lead vs UF at half, easily. Sloppy passes, loss of focus, and lack of aggression kept the score from being much worse. Then we got a horrendous call to take away a TD.

We killed USF start to finish.

3 and outs need to be eliminated. Stalled drives at the 50 need to become FGs. Chip shot FGs need to become TDs.

We need a 60-minute performance against FSU. I'll take a win no matter how you slice it, but I want to see a strong 3rd quarter. No ******* around.

we cant afford silly mistakes and bad throws from beck this week. need to score.

One thing everyone should know. Biggest margin of victory for Miami in Tally, 27 in the 50s. Then you have 22 in 2001. While everyone thinks we blow them out... it just doesn't happen all that often on the road.

Anything more than a 1 score win is a good one.

Not to bump my own post but seemed like Tommy c insinuated this with gramlich and MacLain testing out skill guys vs theirs

in fairness this only worked for one drive in the third quarter ... mesidor has to play containment this game ...

I’ve been cautiously optimistic about every matchup this season—except this one. Rivalry games on the road are always tricky, but I just don’t see our guys overlooking this opponent. They’re too seasoned, too locked in, and too motivated. That gimmicky offense doesn’t concern me, and after seeing them in person against UVA, it’s clear FSU’s defensive front is soft. They don’t play with the physicality you expect at this level.

The ‘Holes might flash early, but by the middle of the third quarter, Miami’s discipline and depth should take over.
This Miami team was built for games like this. And I do mean BUILT for games like this.

We joke but I have no doubt that they have some trick plays and wrinkles held for this game… they definitely have been scheming and waiting for our game. Definitely cost them the UVA game as they probably figured they could go up there and win a 45-31 track meet.

Unlike bama we aren’t looking past them… it’s a rivalry game and they have a ranking by their name because of the bama win. This team is aware it’s not the 2-10 squad they played last year.

@DMoney @Peter Ariz have you guys heard how the team is addressing the Brockermeyer miscues leading up to fsu game? Big, loud, road environment isn’t exactly the remedy for these issues

i feel like that kent state game and east texas a&m game have really skewed the perception ... everyone looks fast vs those teams ...

They were good not great in their 2 games against P4 schools.

6.06 per play against Bama
6.35 per play against UVA

That number for a season puts you around 25th or so nationally. Again, good, not great.

I think Miami has a better defense than Alabama, and certainly better than UVA. Bama is 50th in the country in YPP allowed to P4 teams. UVA is 82nd. Miami is #7.

exactly ... who you play matters ... as you stated (i didn't fact check you) those two games alone put them in the top 25 in rushing stats ... so people say they have a formidable rushing attack without any context ... **** usf faced us with a better resume ...
