Anyone else feel RJ and Norton didn't show up?

Sooooo...

Teams like Wisky, Clemson and ND were double-teaming our stud DT's but Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia, etc. decided to leave them one-on-one?

Or is it more likely that our "stud DT's" weren't able to push around the OL from the quality teams?

I think Norton/McIntosh are awesome. I used to think McIntosh was absolutely elite. After seeing him against quality OL's I've decided to change my mind. He's still great, the best we've had in a long time, but he's not a 1st round talent IMO. And that's fine! He's just a 3-star kid from Cardinal Gibbons. I don't think anybody expected him to be a 1st round type kid. But he needs to come back for sure.

Elite DT's make plays against the big boy teams. Look back to every great DT we've had. They made plays against FSU, Nebraska, UF, etc. You don't think those opponents were trying to double-team them during those games? You don't think teams tried to double-team Vince Wilfork?

We're not there yet, that's all. When we start signing bigger prospects at DT then we'll see guys who make plays against the likes of Clemson.

Wisconsin averaged 3.3 yards per carry. Lazy cliches abound in this thread.

Wisconsin’s TOP had everything to do with Hornibrook getting whatever he wanted in the short passing game, not our DL getting beaten up.

What sets up the short passing game? There is a reason he could dump it off to Ramesh or set up short runs with the white boy backups.

They didn't have a ton of long runs. Just positive yards, grinding it out. Setting themselves up for short yardage third down situations and moving the chains.

Its winning football.

Its not much different then what Georgia does under Smart.

Wisconsin was passing the ball effectively immediately. Just like Clemson did without being able to run the ball whatsoever and just like Virginia did without establishing a running game.

Every time there is a loss people rush for the dumbest old cliches.

lol, what? What game were you watching?

Hornibrook went 3/9 for 33 yards in the first quarter and Miami was up 14-3. Please stop.

In the Clemson game, they still ran the ball 41 times and had the ball for 10 more minutes. I'm not sure what point you're obnoxiously trying to make, but it sucks and it clearly has no factual basis.

I live in Orlando so this was the first game I got to watch live and paid attention to a few things.

1st- last year it seemed like our DL batted more balls down at the line and this year didn’t see much of many hands up attempting to do this.

2nd- holy crap we rotate way to much on DL, example I counted a handful of times Chad thomas wasn’t on the field for 1st or 2nd down, and we had undersized Trent Harris playing those downs. Chad is much bigger and athletic than Harris and Harris should be more of a 3rd down specialist. The DL never gets a chance to get in a rhythm, rotating is awesome but we do it WAY to much.

3rd- at the end of the game players saying by to seniors and a lot of love going towards both Norton and McIntosh, I think th y are both gone.

4th- Wisconsin’s QB has a freaking noodle arm and I have no idea why our DBs don’t turn around, this has been going on all year.

5th- Rosier is so bad, so so so bad

6th- DeeJay Dallas package, it works but he needs to throw a ball or to because by not doing that the opponent adjusts pretty easy.

7th- Cager, and Dallas manned up last night

8th- got a close up on Bar Milo and Robert Burns, both dudes look like butter balls.

DL did not perform at a high level last night. Very disappointing.

2018 DL will be better IMO.

They got violated like a parking meter. They were manhandled all game.

The analyst made several comments about how Kendrick Norton was mishandling their guards. There were easy lanes our linebackers were suppose to come up and fill but they didnt most of the game.

I definitely noticed the LBs not being very aggressive in filling. I’d have to study more film but Shaq seemed way too hesitant last night. Seems like he’s either slow to read or waiting for plays to develop instead of filling hard. Plays are there but he needs to get more aggressive. Pinckney never has that problem, but he isn’t the physical specimen of Shaq, McCloud or even Owens, but he always makes plays. Owens was by far our best LB last night, he had to have 10-12 tackles and some nice plays in coverage. Why? He was aggressive and trusted his reads. It’s a shame we didn’t start him over McCloud all season. He may be a half-step slow following his ACL injury but he’s almost always in a good position. People were so quick to write him off but forget he was in the Nickel package next to DP as a true freshman and looked to have a huge career ahead of him. Lastly, Owens seems to understand coverage (played some S in hs), whereas McCloud is a true in-the-box LB and is playing out of position imo. I’d like to see Owens stay and start at SLB with McCloud coming off the bench as our top backup at MLB and/or WLB. Let Charles Perry, Steed, Joyner Jr, Jennings and Mike Smith get the rest.

From the stands it looked bad. I am going to watch the game tommorow.
