Anyone else feel RJ and Norton didn't show up?

I’m tired of watching our D-Line do stunts and slants that takes them completely out of the play...that one delayed draw play Wisconsin ran in the 1st half where half our front 7 ran right past the ball carrier and they gained 20 , I almost threw my **** phone at the tv

RJ got triple teamed the whole game, we have to recruit that pos better to take that next step

I don't understand why people can't grasp this.....
You start off 10-0 and fans can't see straight, people calling our secondary elite, our DTs are 2nd and 3rd round picks right now, and Malik is the man. We aren't there yet, plain and simple, that has always been the case. IF Norton and RJ come back next year and if Perry emerges, I think we can make some real noise, but even then, this isn't what a championship Miami team is supposed to look like YET. We had a very good class in 2017 and right now have an elite class but need to close strong, and will need one in 2019, then we can start to look like a real Miami team.
The problem with the recruiting right now is DL and LB. There will be a talent upgrade at pretty much all spots except those two.

True, we won a lot of close games but to take the next step to compete with top 5-7 guys we need ti up our S&C program.
we do not look like OSU, Clemson, Bama UGA etc.....Wisconsin guys looked huge against us and it showed 38 + minutes of possession
we have not looked " explosive ' since Butch D's S&C left think his name was Moffet....

Wisconsin averaged 3.3 yards per carry. Lazy cliches abound in this thread.

Wisconsin’s TOP had everything to do with Hornibrook getting whatever he wanted in the short passing game, not our DL getting beaten up.

Only lineman that did anything was chad Thomas and Trent Harris(his impact would have been even greater if not for the obvious holding calls$

You still think Maimi is on Clemson's level at DT? Mcintosh and Norton definitely need to come back..... while Clemson has two sure fire 1st rd DTs...Miami needs to get another beast in this class to complete with the big dogs...

What sets up the short passing game? There is a reason he could dump it off to Ramesh or set up short runs with the white boy backups.

They didn't have a ton of long runs. Just positive yards, grinding it out. Setting themselves up for short yardage third down situations and moving the chains.

Its winning football.

Its not much different then what Georgia does under Smart.

McIntosh and Norton are like Tannehill with the Dolphins. Yeah, they are undeniably superior to anything we've had at the position recently but nobody will care about them at all once a truly elite talent shows up.

They played ok... especially Norton. Our linebackers didn't do a good job of collapsing into the open lanes but I thought the DTs were active it's not like they laid down.

Wisconsin was passing the ball effectively immediately. Just like Clemson did without being able to run the ball whatsoever and just like Virginia did without establishing a running game.

Every time there is a loss people rush for the dumbest old cliches.

Much better.

Kuligowski seems to be cleaning up with the DL inside the state of Florida (especially in the '19 class), but he's going to have to get the big timers (DTs especially) from around the country to give us a championship-level defense.

Yep.

If you look at which positions have gotten big-time out-of-state players so far, there are 0 at LB and 0 at DT and 1 at DE although DJ Johnson recruited us.

The state of Florida is always loaded at WR, yet Dugans got Thomas last year, Hightower in this year's class and Burton in the '20 class. Those are 3 big-time out-of-state WRs. He's clearly nailing it as the WR coach. He's been about as good as any coach on this staff up to this point looking at all facets - maybe the best, actually. He has a bright future - hopefully it'll be with Miami for a few more years, anyway.

You can chalk that up to Michael Jackson's poor awareness. He was put in a position to blow that place up and he had no idea where the ball was.

Does wisconsin have some super stud guard that shut down McIntosh? Him disappearing was odd considering that he lived in the opposing backfield EVERY game this year regardless of opponent. He was invisible last night.

Apparently they had three guys on the line they were like all conference types

They won’t make rosters in the NFL. If they leave they’re committing career suicide.

Ohio State's DL versus our DL. I love Miami's talent, but if you watched the Ohio State v. Wisconsin and Ohio State v. USC game, you can see the difference between the two units. OSU's DL changed the outcome of each game. The interior pressure they provide fvcks up what they are doing on offense.

That didn't happen last night. The only DL that really showed out were Chad Thomas and Trent Harris to a lesser extent...the outside pressure is nice, but its interior pressure that dictates games where trench matchups are important...like ones against Wisconsin where you need to disrupt the runs in the 1, 2, 3, and 4 holes and you need to squeeze the time in the pocket a QB like Hornibrook has.

This is a dumb comparison. USC's OL was terrible all season, their fans complained about it 24/7. They got shut down by Texas and ND too.

We didn't play USC, we played Wisconsin. Wisconsin won up front vs Ohio St's DL, same way they did against us. Ohio St's DL also got embarassed by Iowa's OL, if you just want to throw random comparisons out there.

Really weird you didnt use the Ohio St-UW game. I guess it didn't fit your narrative
