Packer and Brady Hoke host a radio show on the college sports satellite station.

Got a call from a UM fan asking about who would be a good coach to hire if Golden was replaced.

Packer said he wasn't sure Golden would be fired. But also mentioned Golden was maxed out at Miami, and did the job he was hired to do ... Navigate the NCAA, and run a clean program.

Packer then went on to say he doubts Miami can ever get back to what the fans want. Says it's an unrealistic expectation, and that what happened before was the perfect storm. Now, everybody recruits South Florida.

He also took a dump on our stadium situation, calling it the worst college atmosphere for football. No energy, no mystique, no home field advantage

Hoke said Kaaya would be a draw to prospective coaches, and the talent base accessible for recruiting is the best. Can't get all the S. Florida recruits, but we have to get our share.

Was a bit depressing.

If you actually believe this you must not know much about Miami.

Hire a great coach, it's really that simple.

Atmosphere is bad however you get a good coach and win, no one supports a winner like people in Miami

Yeah, immediately after our 2001 NC, when we got rid of our stadium and indoor practice facility - wait - we never had a stadium or indoor practice facility!

How DID we ever manage?

Dumb. People have always recruited South Florida. The difference is there are more good players now.

The stadium sucks, but it didn't stop Miami from putting nine guys in the pros last year. The talent will be there.

Hoke's comments are interesting. When we had the last coaching search, Jacory was coming off a horrible year. Before that, it was Kyle. The fact that we have Kaaya should be a great selling point to candidates.

Fact: NOBODY wants Miami to be good again. Realize this, we blew the 86 (cough Testaverde) title game. 88 we got robbed b/c of ND and the fluke fumble. 92 we got cute Bama. 94, we got cute with Nebraska. 00 we got jobbed by the computers and in 03 we got jobbed by Porter.

Understand, realistically, Miami could've had 11 titles 32 years. Unheard of. I know, I know...if my aunt had balls...but realistically we were ALWAYS in the national title pic. SEC don't want that and the Big 10 certainly don't want that.

Golden has shattered all memories of how great we were. Ppl said Bama was dead...but when they hired Nick....all heck broke loose.

We are ONE coach away from being great again. We still have the best recruiting ground in America at our disposal. Kids are not coming here b/c we don't have that "coach" now. Once we get that coach again....lol...we'll b public enemy #1 again, where we should be.

All we need is a coach.

We need a whole staff of great coaches.

Butch had Pagano, Chud, Schiano, and a bunch of future college head coaches on staff. Tommy Moffit.

Jimmy had Dave Wannstedt, Butch, sonny Lubick, tommy tuberville on staff kicking ***

I think the only Butch would be successful again is it he can get a great staff. There is nothing wrong with that, but that is IMPERATIVE.

I like Pack, but he's wrong. Look at the roster last year or even this year. Any decent staff wins 10 games with our weak schedule. We still are averaging top 15 classes under Al. Get a staff that can get the most out of the players and we're in Charlotte every year.

Maybe I am in the minority, but I don't waste my time listening or reading to what any of these so-called college football
pundits think about the UM, especially those who are not from soFla.
Alot of them have hidden agendas anyways, intense hatred for all_things_Miami and that is often not even pertaining to
UM itself.
So I won't lend my attention to those mouth-breathing yahoos.

Similar reason why I haven't watched that ESPN college gameday garbage in at least 15 years.
I would watch 24 hour marathon of Rachel MadCow on MSNBC.

There is some truth to what was said, but also a lot of bs.

1. The stadium situation -
This was the truth. When the OB was torn down it ripped the heart out of us. It was our home, and the bulldozed it. It really hasn't been the same since, and no Sun Life decorations make it really feel like our home. Last time I was at a game...I can't describe it. It just felt...weird..
You know what it felt like.... like a high school all-star game played in some random stadium. It just felt really foreign and didn't feel like our place at all.

2. The "perfect storm" part and that we can't get back is the biggest load of bs. A perfect storm doesn't happen in multiple decades. A perfect storm is something that well...magically comes together in a unique way. There was nothing unique about it once we figured it out. Schnellenburger kickstarted it. then Jimmy, Erickson, Butch, etc. It was always the South Florida talent that made miami... (the coaching was important, but honestly it was the talent more than the coaching). We just needed coaches who knew how to put the talent together. and keep it here.

The blue print is so so easy too.

There are about 25-30 Highschools that you have to own.

St. Thomas Aquinas
Northwestern
Norland
Pahoke
Glades
Miami Central
Kathleen
Coral Gables
Lincoln
Lakeland
Vero Beach
Raines
Miami Senior
Jackson
Chamberlain
Caroll City
South Miami
etc.

It's a list of about 45 schools total. You can have 9 assistants recruiting. Divide them up 5 schools for each coach. That's it. 5 schools.
None of this recruit nationally crap. Just 5 schools for each assistant. Every single day they spend the whole day talking to the coaches from one of their schools. 1 day for each school building relationships. You don't even have to secure the best player from each school. You just need to secure 25 every year. And I guarantee that if you got half the top players from those 45 schools every year...you will crush people. It's not hard to do.

A coach that owns south florida talent. That makes sure they stay disciplined and sharpens their raw skills into aggressive relentless players with passion and intensity....and tada...miami is back.

No perfect storm needed. I just counted on our roster and their are about 40 kids on the roster that aren't from South Florida. 40 kids... for the University of Miami. Yeah I know we always got a couple here and there from other places...but we never really had to...and look...nobody cares more about Miami then Miami kids...well they used to...until we started giving scholarships elsewhere...

45 schools. 1 coach for 5 schools...talking to each one every single day...it's not hard to do. but for some reason we've decided to make it hard.

And hopefully Cactus Jack.

New coach really should find something for Coley to do (other than call plays) in order to stick around. He is a Qb finding savant.

Another blowhard who's probably never been to the stadium but he can get on the radio & talk. If UM were winning he wouldn't be mentioning any of this. Boring.

I've come to believe that what we have is an administration that has deliberately destroyed its own football program and tradition. These aristocratic ********, so afraid of the Thug U image, have exactly what they've wanted, a bottom feeder program. Their main problem is the Old Cane Fans. They still remember the glory days, and revel in them. We'll eventually die off. In the meantime, the blue-noses aim to lower fan expectations, to get some asses in the seats. Trouble with that is that Miami is a notorious front-runner town. They only like winners. Can't blame them.

The only leverage left is the ACC. Will those blue bloods be happy with Miami's contributions? It took a long time to get Temple kicked out of the Big East, but at least we have a blueprint: an embarrassingly empty stadium.

The last alternative is nearly impossible because of Miami's private status; get rid of the aristocratic blue-bloods.

Firing Day is 48 away.

If Fraulden was hired to navigate the NCAA, that means that he probably knew about the Shapiro mess before he was hired.

Hire a name like Butch or even Chip (yes I know not realistic) and that stadium would be 80-90% packed and the recruits would line up.
