Any word on our kickers?

Texas State ::: Kicker Mason Shipley [15.5] enters the portal after two seasons as the starter for Bobcats. After going a perfect 15/15 in 2023, he followed up with four misses in 19 attempts in 2024, but with two from over 50 yards and included a 60-yard field goal. The original Oklahoma State signee in the class of '20 has one season of eligibility remaining.
This is from the substack of CFBDepth. It is a great daily email for the guys that follow all CFB, not just canes. @Memnon

There are so many half decent kickers at smaller programs. The kicking game is, unfortunately, way too important to lean on an unknown (Abram) unless you're absolutely certain the kid is going to be good.

It would be tragic to have a shot at the playoffs or ACC title and end up losing out because you had p*sspoor kickers that couldn't convert in crunch time.

I've given my opinion, already. I am 100% bringing in another kicker. I am not leaving any major position open to chance. If we get lucky in this portal, who knows what happens this season. This team just has to develop during the season.

We legit should go and get Nico Gramatica from USF. He has a brother who just committed to USF in the 2026 class - Gaston Gramatica
If we get Nico, we'd have him 2-3 years then his brother 2 years or so.... Going from Borregales Brothers to Gramatica brothers would be legit perfect....

That would be long-term thinking. You know his brother is going to be good. You pay to bring him in now and potentially have kicker solved for 5 years no joke...

So guy signs here to redshirt and learn behind one of the best kickers Miami has had in recent history with the job being his going forward then hits the portal. Either he ******* sucks or he ******* sucks.

I don't think you learn much by watching another kicker kick, no matter how talented the starter is.
