Any OC or DC’s to be considered for HC job at Miami?

They said the same about Saban.

Some guys aren't cut out for the new NFL. Players have way more power and aren't afraid to flex it. O'Brien has been credited with building he foundation at PSU that Franklin currently enjoys.

If he doesn't atleast get a call, that should mean Mario said yes. I don't know why you wouldn't atleast interview the guy. Hes done exactly what we need our next coach to do at a P5 school (PSU).
😂 no they didn’t say the same about Saben

I’d definitely consider Kevin Wilson

Prior HC
Indiana put up a lot of points under him
Currently at OSU, who scores a lot, and knows how a big time program is run
Meh. I think you go after the Jeff Hafley's of the world first before you start interviewing the Kevin Wilson's.

I'm definitely not a dolphins fan but the same was definitely said about Saban. Check the history with Saban. Dolphins leaders like Zach Thomas tried to fight the guy when he was there. So did Dante Culpepper. He played the same 'tough guy's games but it doesn't work with MEN, as most NFL players are actual Men.

I would be on the fence on O'Brien if his resume didnt look very similar to Sabans. Both were given the keys to an organization. O'Brien actually ran a successful organization before he went all Kim Jong Il and didn't adjust to a newfound players league.

Saban led the dolphins to playoffs once in two years, before bolting to Bama. O'Brien, in 6 seasons, won the divisional 4 times. O'Brien definitely had more success as a HC in the NFL than Saban did.

Agree to disagree

I know Hafley has BC on the upswing but his resume doesn’t have a lot of depth and he has spent more time as an nfl position coach then in the college game

Right, but that's possibly because he's like 17 years younger than Kevin Wilson.
I get what you're saying. More college experience is viewed as superior, but I think having *some* experience is better than some of these names being put out that only have strictly NFL coaching experience.

Guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the HC hire. Is it a lightning in a bottle saban style dynasty hire, or is it more of a Richt, get the program moving in the right direction type hire?

The main reason I already prefer Hafley is because his overall HC record is 10-6. Wilson's is 26–47. Yeah, maybe not a big enough sample size. But Wilson has a pretty big sample size of him not really going anywhere with Indiana. That's a whole different discussion about talent and their conference/divison, etc

But what the bigger sample size does show when you compare apples to apples, Wilson's Indiana win record being .361%, and Tom Allen taking over and immediately improving it to .522%, which is pretty substantial. Also, Allen's resume isn't exactly the best either, but at a younger age, he's already shown himself to essentially be better than Wison. Nothing against Wilson. Maybe he's just cut out to be a coordinator and not a HC.

Miami hasn’t been able to steal from Ok St or Wash St since the 80s. Our options seem to be either NFL coordinator with no HC exp or G5 coaches.

If Miami decides to step up the game, then we can have confidence again.

Personally, I’m done with G5 HCs. Mark Whipple, Al Golden, Manny Diaz. These guys aren’t turning this thing around.

I’m not pounding the table for Wilson I just think he has a materially better resume than Hafley and would be my pick between the two.

Also, if we’re being objective Indiana was a complete rebuild when he took over, and his cumulative record doesn’t tell the whole story.
His last year in 2016 they went 6-6, with three loses coming to Mich, Penn St and Ohio St, all of which were ranked in the top 10 at the time.

He and the university agreed to part ways, for some undisclosed reason. It wasn’t a firing.

It’s a mute point, I wouldnt bet money on either Wilson of Hafley bring the hire

I should have known haha

I heard his name come up and I’m like does anyone pay attention….to anything?
I mentioned his name, not because I think we have any shot at him, or that he would want to come here. He will be a NFL head coach within the next few years more than likely. He is a NFL OC that I wouldn't mind being our coach though.

Nothing personal I just genuinely had no clue why he suddenly kept popping up. It’s such a random name to be connected to us
