Miami has supposedly reached out to the PSU 5th yr senior nose tackle Antonio Shelton who has recently entered the transfer portal to take advantage of extra year reset for 2021. He is originally from OH and a big Miami fan. The young man would provide excellent senior leadership to our dline room. Not to mention a grown man presence in the interior of the dline.

Here is interview he did today where he talks about his high interest in Miami.

If the rumor that 5th year transfers will cost you an IC are true, don't see how we take one unless it's a CB.

That would be a slap in the face considering he is a 5th year that graduated in the fall with a masters degree. What happened to rewarding student athletes. Sure he should count against the 25 intial counters, but we should get it back in the 2021 class as with any grad transfers. The extra year due to covid was granted in spirit to aid the upper class men who lost a full season of games. So to now possibly penalize them from being able to transfer would be some NCAA bullcrap.

I agree and don't know what they'll do, just pointing out that we can't (or shouldn't) spend an IC on a 1-year player unless it's a CB.

Agree,we need to develop the younger DTs for next season.Hunter,Blissett,Roberts and Q.Williams.We bring in a jag transfer and I can see 1 or 2 of our younger kids leave for a better opportunity.Taylor needs a few snaps too to keep him engaged and there's still Nesta and Miller who I honestly can't remember doing much this season. That's 7 DTs plus Haye redshirting. No reason we can't have a nice 4-5 man rotation there.

Shelton is a 1 or 0 tech we don't have a dominant interior presence that would be a Ford, Miller, Holley. These are the players that take the double team and allow the other DT shoot a gap. But in addition to taking on the double team, they have to able to collapse the pocket while doing so.

Huge Miami fan, but signs with one our hated rivals.

The last time we signed a former Nittany Lion, we had a cloud that refused to go away. 🤷🏾‍♂️

It was his only major P5 offer. He explains what happened in the video, at one point he thought he wasn't going to get any college offers. His high school team went winless his senior year, often times players (especially linemen) on a winless team don't get P5 offers

What’s his production in 4 yrs?

Games played = 40
Asst Tackles = 34
Total Tackles = 61
Sacks = 6 (in 2020 he played in 9 games and had 4 sacks which indicates he is trending up as a senior an would continue to do so.).

Also keep in mind those stats are for a true NT.

Well I will say this; we definitely need someone in the middle that can push the pocket backwards. Seeing OKSU have so much time to scan the field, and that was putting 7 in the box....man, that was tough
