Miami Central High School athlete Anthony Jones landed a recent offer from Louisville and says "I like the coaches there, they know how to talk to the kids, I like their program and they're a passing team."

But he says it's too little, too late from the Cardinals and that he's focused in on just FIU, where he's committed, and Miami.

"Louisville, I can't visit there because I'm enrolling early," Jones said, adding that UM and FIU are "both about even" atop his list.

Jones says he calls Cane coaches "all the time" and last spoke with them on Thursday.

He says he spoke with Al Golden, James Coley and Hurlie Brown that day, and that they reiterated they want him at Miami despite Da'Vante Phillips, who lives with him, picking FSU.

While it is unclear if UM will indeed make room for Jones, he certainly thinks he has a committable offer.

"They said they still want me there, that I can do special things at the U," Jones said. "They say they need me at the U, that I can do big things, get it back to how they used to be. Coach Golden said they want me at running back and returner."

Jones says he expects to arrive at a decision sometime Sunday and that "I'm just talking things over with my family, my mom."

He adds "I'm not nervous, but it'll be a tough decision."

Wouldn't be the first time our staff had communication issues with a kid. Wonder how many people are going to side with the staff now? Should have known these guys were suspect when they couldn't even get on the same page regarding Travis Rudolph.

Jones is a stud i like him at corner and returner , we need to call up Cronkite and see whats up but Jones is most definitely not a subpar talent kid could hold his own at any D1 program.

It's not the players don't matter if we all five star studs it's the scheme folks. We can beat this stick until we are blue in the face.

How can UM staff want Anthony Jones as a kick returner but not Jalen Julius or JAVARIUS DAVIS that makes no sense. If they cut Dexter Williams loose to keep Scarlett then Scarlett needs to COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN HIS RECRUITMENT, otherwise this staff is making bush league moves especially considering Williams would have been on campus this week.

In this case UM is giving up two birds in the hand for one in the bush and another a year later in Sam Bruce wow what a schrewd move.

Go Canes

Kid is definitely a take, don't believe the hype about he was only for a package deal. Hope we get him. Canes have a chance here. If we lose a kid to FIU, then we have sunk to al all-time low.

Bummer he went to FIU but I gotta think that its VERY possible that a kid like this feels like he has a legit shot to be featured at FIU vs. Being a depth guy or specialist at Miami.

Or just perhaps (if we had a competent staff) he merely had a joint offer and had to go to FIU at this point and the U is letting him keep his pride...
