2026 Anthony "Tank" Jones 5* DE from Mobile, AL Commits to Oregon

All I can say is we better be hitting paydirt on our 2024 and 2025 DEs to hide the hole we've burned into roster distribution. Maybe we can find some young guys in the portal like we did at DB? And we better go after 2027 like they're a Mario/Mirabal OL class.

There will be a ton of money presumably freed up with whos graduating/nfl bound next year so I'd expect at least one impact portal addition.

Beck Balling out and going RD 1 and us turning into a premiere destination for QBs to up their draft stock really intrigues me..

thought the point is to win at any means necessary? its legal to pay players. we do it. you want to win, you pay up to do so.
Exactly. It’s the reason we got Cantwell. It’s the reason we got Beck. We outbid the others for certain players and for some we don’t. Recruiting is dead. You don’t need to be a sweet talker anymore. You just need money!

The most played out storyline on this entire site is that “once you start winning the recruits will come”. That’s total bull****. That may have been the case 20 years ago, but for the last decade, at least, it’s been about money.

When Kirby took over at UGA they hadn’t won ****. Mid team that committed to paying players ALOT of money and they started winning.

And then came NIL which makes it legal for everyone to pay to the differtiator is again winning and NFL. The pay isn't far off between a lot of these teams so the separator now is winning and production just like any other business. People want to go where they are being paid competitively and winning. Why not both. Kirby was hired towards the end of the predominantly bag era.

Yall love speaking in absolutes on here lol smh … yes money is the #1 driver but Money/Winning/Development = The Best results

wtf is so hard for you 🥷 to understand?

If you’re wondering Why Jeremiah Smith ain’t suiting up for us look no further then our track record on the field and at his position since he was old enough to understand football …….Unless you think he went to OSU strictly for money then there’s no point for this convo

I don’t get what’s so hard to understand

lol you think UGA couldn’t match/pay whatever we paid Cantwell ? The kid literally said out his mouth the difference was that he believed in Alex Mirabal as one of the best in the business in terms of Oline development..you sound like one of those UGA reporters claiming we gave him some ridiculous 15-20 million dollar amount to come here 😂😂😂😂

I can tell u unequivocally that player development for true guys who wanna make the league is still the #1 incentive. NIL plays a huge role, & 4 some, it’s the only thing that matters, but player development is numero uno.

Do u think Carson Beck comes here if Ward didn’t just become 1st overall? Yeah the $$ was great, but this **** been driving a Lambo before transferring w what he had at UGA. My youngin played w Longstreet (5* QB) last season. Longstreet was committed to notorious bag school TAMU. He flipped to SC last minute not b/c they paid more, but this kid wants to go to the league & was convinced by Riley’s track record of putting QBs in the NFL.

We have to stop devaluing or underestimating what top tier athletes want; the end goal is still NFL.

This.

A lot of Orange and Green delusion going on in here if people think that for an elite WR that if bags are about the same that Miami is as attractive an option as OSU, LSU and Bama - schools with a lengthy track record of getting WRs into the high rounds of the draft every **** year.

we’ve got like 2 recruited and developed pro prospects at the moment

Cooper and Mauigoa

We will see about Bain. Wild how the board called him fat and lazy all last year and now suddenly hyping him as a first round pick but whatever

So you’re telling me it’s a coincidence that we got Jackson Cantwell!?!?

We got beat back to back years for the top SFLA even with great offers because they both to go to Taint which has that track record at WR in Hartline.
I really didn’t like this narrative that was pushed during this last draft

We had a bunch of guys go that were recruited by the previous staff and we got in the portal

Look at Mario’s first couple classes and there is a stunning lack of NFL guys

In my world, money talks. Idgaf is Jesus Christ was coaching WRs at Ohio State. You make the kid an absurd offer. One he can’t refuse. If you can’t do that, then just be content BATTLING for ACCCG appearances…

The 23 class is an unmitigated disaster right now from both an NFL and College impact standpoint. Thank God for the portal.

That’s “ur world.” U’re not trying to go to the league. That’s the difference between the mindset of a competitor vs. chasing the bag. Furthermore, as I’ve explained many times, NIL does not work like a real, arbitrated, unionized contract. These deals r put together by boogey men in the shadows posing as legit businessmen on behalf of the schools.

There’s a lot of funny languages found in many of these deals, where kids r getting screwed. This is temporary $$, & the goal is to get to long term $$ which is the NFL. We have to be able to show not only r we winning, but we’re sending kids to the NFL, & I’m not talking 5th Rd.

And don’t get me wrong I acknowledge that’s part of the deal these days but to @Rellyrell point we’ve really got nothing to show so far (other than “developing” other people’s recruits)

In 2024, before the season how much more was Jeremiah Smith worth than JoJo Trader? Let’s say you gave Smith the absurd offer - $4M per year. How much do you elevate JoJo? They’re both elite players coming out of high school. And by extension how does it affect the rest of the wide receiver room?
