If you're rooting for UVA, you're not a Canes fan. It's literally the opposite.

I want change as much as anyone else, but I'll never root against my alma mater.

I assure you, I've been a diehard for the last 40 years and am probably one of the older posters on this board. If YOU can't see further than 5 yards in front of your face and realize that THIS is the most important moment where CHANGE might actually come if we lose some games......then YOU'RE NOT A CANES FAN.

I'm giving the O with a new QB at least one ACC game before I start openly rooting for a train wreck. A good QB performance, you know, actually spreading the ball around and pushing it down the field from time to time, will open up the O. Now I don't expect us to look as good on Thursday as we did today, but I was encouraged with the QB play.

One game. That's my leash for Manny. One game.

Sorry...I've already seen all I need to see. And for the record, the rooting for losses is MORE about getting so much heat on the AD department that BLAKE is actually fired. That's all that matters right now. Manny is just a name that will be replaced with another name unless we get a real AD in here.

I didn't hear it that way. Herbstreit said that UM needs the president, AD, and football coach on the same page. Bear said the whole athletic department is in trouble, citing problems with basketball and baseball, too.
My take away was that the problem with the football team is university-wide. I think one of them went as far as to say that it doesn't much matter who the football coach is.

You can do that without rooting for the enemy.

I can't imagine being happy seeing another team scoring on us and throwing down an upside down U.

If that's your definition of fan, maybe The Sabre or The Grounds is the place for you.

Unfortunately, not with this administration.

No my friend, when you are saddled with THE MOST APATHETIC AND INCOMPETENT ADMINISTRATION in the country....you have no choice but to root for chaos, bedlam, and absolute embarrassment. Those are the only conditions under which these morons act.

You root for whatever the F you want. I'll do the same. I want this thing built the right way and short term results against bad ACC Coastal opponents will only do more harm than good from the standpoint of change where it matters most.

People made this same argument with Golden and Richt. Yes, it's an embarrassment. Yes, there needs to be a change. No, I'll never root against my team. My angry phone call will accomplish more than rooting against them.

We all want change, but rooting for something that will accomplish nothing but shame yourself is a waste of effort.

Actually it wasn't "people"...it was me to be specific. Yes, I said that back then and I still say it now. We're dealing with THE most incompetently run program in the country. The only thing that matters right now is FINALLY burning it to the ground and building up correctly. I'll sacrifice ANYTHING in the short term in return for cleaning house in that unathletic department.

I completely get where you are coming from, but I need to remind you of 1999. We were struggling horribly on O with Kenny Kelly, who was a fan favorite. In comes his backup who quite frankly saved Butch Davis. That loss to ECU in 99 was as ugly as just about any loss Diaz has had, and I know Diaz has had some whoppers. People were turning on Davis in a big way after that loss. Then the blowout at VT happened. People were getting antsy, to say the least. In comes Dorsey and the rest is history.

No, I do not think Diaz is a great coach. However, a QB that can throw to all parts of the field, and makes solid reads, makes a really big difference. I'm not saying either Garcia or TVD can do what they did today against ACC competition, but I am saying they did it against CCSU. I remember back in 99 when everyone was saying, "Dorsey only did it against Syracuse and Temple." Yeah, but he did it, and it carried over.

For that reason I will hope we light it up from this point on. If that doesn't happen and we come out and look like we normally do, then by all means, let the losses pile up until he's fired. As a fan, I want wins first. Not just wins, but wins that show we are heading in the right direction. Let's see what happens now. Give it at least a week.
