Good afternoon guys. I’ve got some thoughts and a bit of information which is a little redundant but will shed some light on what’s been going on.

First and foremost I want to emphasize again just how much JF has stepped up. I tried to emphasize this point a couple months ago when I passed the BJ information along. He took an interest in the condition of the athletic department back in the summer. Late yes, but better late than never. I laid out how the Manny decision and his actions since then went down and JF was hellbent on not having another repeat. Unfortunately it was a result of not only on the field mediocrity across the various sports but also the morale inside the actual building. I can tell you firsthand it’s been stale, uninspired, and toxic. He took note of that himself and began to surround himself with people who seemed to have rational and unemotional opinions of where we are athletically as a whole. I said months ago he took the alpha role in this and true to that title he’s followed suit. He realized this university has been hamstrung by old money, old thoughts, and by an accepting of mediocrity with those that mattered. The groundwork for this was laid out by the last administration and to a degree even further back. He had enough and has allowed new thought, influence, and most importantly new money which has very little obligation to the old. Whenever you see this man on the Jumbotron or about town I recommend you shower him with praise as he’s responsible for the movement you’re seeing. With that being said some kudos go to some of that old guard that finally woke up, saw a leader at work, and followed his lead.

As far as Mario. I can tell you contact, albeit unofficial, was made with him sometime back. He was one of about a dozen coaches who were subject to a temperature check. His reception can be best characterized as a brush off at best. It was taken that way but understood he had his own tasks at hand with what was his responsibility at the time. A month ago I would have put his homecoming at slim. Truth is the evolution of Oregon’s season combined with the massive overhaul here is what won him over beyond the roots. Again, hats off to JF and those who got in his ear along the way. Without the demolition of “leadership” and other changes being made in the athletic department this WOULD NOT be happening.

As far as AD. I’ve been advised the decision was made last Tuesday, albeit it solely on our side by JF. Decision meaning he knew who he wanted to go with, not that an agreement was made. Yes there’s the 1a but there’s also a 1b. Part of the lack of willingness to come out is hedging due to some hang up with 1a. No I do not know the reason but the speculation is simply a life track/life plan choice. Either way we will have a massive upgrade no doubt.

And last but not least. I wish good fortune to Manny moving forward. He was tasked with something way over his head. For the most part I blame the university, not him, as any and all of us would take the gig. With that being said, and yes I may sound like a broken record, Manny broke promises which would have helped him immensely. Not only was his job offer contingent on it, but as we see now his success was as well. I hope he’s learned, I really do. He came in and quickly developed a massive amount of arrogance. To his credit he humbled a bit and tried to change but it was too late. Godspeed to him.

Above all Godspeed to our programs and all involved. Until the late summer I wondered if I’d ever see more than an occasional flicker of success from UM football, baseball, and basketball again. A new day is upon us to say the least. Go Canes!

Thanks for your information. You didn't have to, but it was greatly appreciated.

I must tip my hat to you JP, you along with cribby have been spot on the whole way. I really have appreciated all the behind the scenes info you shared with us this season. Brighter days are definitely ahead of us for sure as I to wondered if my memories would be the only winning I saw out of Miami every again. Im so grateful to President Frenk even though I never thought in a million years he’d be the man to step up and put an end to the cancer within this program and BOT. So cheers to him!

Hey JP, besides Rad, who are the finalists for AD if Rad falls through. Need someone to come in and crack skulls on Gino and that underperforming baseball program too. Are the rumors of Pat Chun being the runner up true?

Much appreciation to you @jps2344. I mentioned a few days ago that the decisions Dr. Frenk made regarding the Head Football Coach and AD could be legacy defining moments. With the events of today, I think it’s safe to say his legacy amongst Cane fans will be remembered fondly and as the years go by, appreciated for restoring a once proud program that had fallen into an abyss.

Thank you for this.

Let me ask the following, but if it is beyond what you care to share on a public forum, never mind.
What promises did Manny break?

Most of us only know about the perceived coaching deficiencies with Diaz, but you are obviously alluding to something behind the scenes.

I’m pretty sure one was that he was given the funds to bring in some people with real experience and he was supposed to do that as a condition of employment or continued employment but he reneged because of arrogance & smartest guy in the room syndrome.

Yeah, but is Chud still in play?
You clearly have no idea how how things have worked around here up until a few months ago I’d say. When the wheels started turning on this he very much was someone who was brought up repeatedly. Not only to fit in the organization but as HC as well. Remember @MikeCanes, this is the same university that burned more bridges with quality minds across different sports than most can count. It’s the same one that got backhanded by an unqualified Manny Diaz, hired Randy Shannon, and gave Al Golden an extension when he’d proven nothing.

Take what you read and realize the information is just that, information. I can tell you there were plenty of people in JF’s ear where it would have been very easy to settle, like we have with every hire post Butch. Thankfully the athletic department is being retooled to where it didn’t become an option. Not because he’s not a great football kind, because he is, but because he’s not even close to being the best man for the job.

Two days ago Brooklyndee said Jurich was a done deal, but it collapsed at the last second. Don't know why. Maybe we can circle back.

Who were the other Head Coaches they reached out to?

Been busy and offsite until later yesterday so did not see that posted by him. I guess I wouldn’t have classified it as a done deal myself but as I mentioned he’s been in the fold, contrary to what the media has stated. He’s not JF’s first choice, or at least wasn’t as of a week ago.
