An Ignored Dangerous Richt Deficiency: Recruiting

If you didn't realize, this is an indictment on Richt. UGA doesn't seem to be missing him very much. They are recruiting better now than when Richt was there.

We are about to go into GA and snatch not only the #1 player in the state but the #1 player at his position in the country. (Hasselwood). Richt might not be as hot as Smart is right now (no homo) but UGA recruiting is cooling off BIG TIME.

Even TStephenson who was probably a lock to them earlier in the season isn't sold on what is going on there. I don't know what happened but Smart is losing his spark a little. They have had multiple decommitments.

I agree with most of this, I'd love to have your same faith on Tarquin and Solomon sticking though.

Tarquin maybe. No way Solomon flips. Would be absolutely stunned. STUNNED. But I as long as Searles is here, I think we keep Tarquin. If we had fired him, it would have been a wrap.

Hope you're right bro, I think Solomon is already gone and Tarquin is on the verge of it.

They are currently ranked #3 for 2019 class and are tied with LSU for most the 5 stars verbally committed. UM has cooled off big time that is the reality right now.

Re. Haselwood

I don't know why but it's easier for us to poach elite recruits from oos than from our own backyard.

I know why. It's because the out of state kids aren't as aware of what a total clown show our entire athletic department is. All the local kids know the deal.

We are going head to head with them for Hasselwood and Stephenson. That's the only way you can measure this at this point. Stars matter but are not everything. There best player on defense was a 3*. (Deandre Baker)

Lets see where the cards lay when they announce. Apparently they are both announcing at the All Star game.

It's not just closing on guys either. It's roster management via recruiting that he's shown to be completely inept as well. Not recruiting a qb this year is retarded.
It's really telling when your own nephew picks LSU over your own team

We've seen it every year he's been here. His first year he completely ignored the RB position, second year completely ignored the LB position, and this year he's ignoring the QB position.

With a program in South Florida, how the **** do you botch recruiting sooooo bad. How the **** does it happen?

How does it happen? You get badmouthed by other schools, and then those schools start dropping the bags.

Also - and I believe this is something that gets glossed over too often - the Miami area, as a general place to be/live, is not for everyone. It is not your standard college experience, and it is certainly not a town in which a mere college football player is basically going to be treated like royalty. We all know that places like Baton Rouge, Tuscaloosa and Gainesville are total ****holes. I've been to all of those and can't see myself spending more than one weekend in any of them. Yet, they are going to be able to offer these kids, many of whom have had smoke blown up their a$$es their whole lives about how great at football they are, a certain level of status that Miami will never be able to offer. You're never going to be a big man around town here the way you will in Tuscaloosa....in fact, you're next to nothing in a city where the South American and European 1% of the 1% drop millions around like pocket change.

Anyway, part of my point is, these other schools know this place isn't for everyone, and use it against us in recruiting.

Yeah I don't get where this whole "Georgia is cooling off in recruiting" narrative is coming from. To be elite, you have to compound elite class after elite class. Miami had an elite class last cycle; we follow up with a disappointing one this cycle (I don't think we're getting Evan Neal despite family wanting him at Miami). UGA, if we're including current ranking this cycle has the ranked #3, #1, and #3 classes ranked. That's how you build elite teams.

Some advice for, stop getting your panty's in a wad over these nerd recruiting site class rankings, means nothing! Who cares what a class is ranked, its about are we playing good ball or not. Im sure our defense this year wasnt loaded with 5 star rankings from these nerd recruiting sites but our defense as a whole played like 8 stars. The coach richt offensive system is not a quick learning qb system, he's developing pro-style qb's, not jump passing qb's who wont make it to the next level!

Calvin,

Seriously? Come on man.

We are failing terribly recruiting OL and then not coaching up the OL we have. This is not a good combo. The fact that kids like Herbert and Hillery have contributed little to this point is concerning given the quality of who was playing over them.

Check out the recruiting board...Richt's inability to recruit has not been overlooked.

Real talk...he stinks. He's no better at recruiting than Randy or Al Golden. Just as good at his best...just as bad, at his worst. The invisible hand at Georgia was clearly much larger than anyone probably gave it credit for under Richt.

He's woefully inept at recruiting the lines. Period. That is the #1 thing you need to do in recruiting if you want to compete and he ain't doin it.

This man legitimately didn't recruit - flat out told no thanks - to numerous South Florida 4* players and is now holding his d!ck at those positions.

He evaluates and puts himself into boxes for player archetypes just as poorly as Randy and Golden.

Top recruits in the region barely give Miami a first look, nevermind a second look. Courtesy looks at best.

Just watch the finish of this class...your Terrence Henley types, your Junior Alexis types, your Evan Sherriffs types are comin.

Then the slurpers will say how they are hidden gems we were lucky to find
Foh with that mess

I assume you mean "IF we follow up with a disappointing one this cycle then XYZ.." Not sure if you guys know this or not but NSD is 2.5 months away and the early signing period is still a few weeks away. If I didn't know any better by reading this thread, I would assume NSD was tomorrow. Smh.

The top guys on our board are still out there and I feel confident in saying we are in the top 3 for all of them. (Bogle, Neal, Hasselwood, MAR, Stephenson, Summerall, Zipperar, etc)

we seem to have recruited decently on the defensive side of the ball. You can't separate out our coaches on offense inability to identify and develop talent and get that talent to buy in. We had 3 different QBs get suspended this year. Either we are recruiting immature kids to play here or they are rebelling against something and maybe rebelling with good cause.

Do you know football, if you do, than you wouldnt have a problem with that post. And hopefully you are not a star gazer and believe in the mel kiper junior highschool player rankings system, if that's the foundation of your football knowledge, than i understand!
