An Ignored Dangerous Richt Deficiency: Recruiting

We're at a disadvantage schematically and talent-wise.

Definitely not a winning combination.

But all these issues deal with the current team and staff. I ask you this: what about the future?

What are the fundamental duties of a big-time, successful college football coach? Recruit. Develop. Coach. Well right now I feel as if a major area of Richt’s duties are being glossed over. He is recruiting at a **** poor level right now.

Over the last 19 years, Miami has only had a class ranked outside the top 25 twice:

33rd in 2011
27th in 2015

2011 was a transition class with the fat slob who will not be named, showing up with 1.5 months left in the cycle; and 2015 came after a pathetic 6-7 season by that same fat worthless *******. Not great company to be in.

Miami’s class is currently ranked 25th on the 247 composite rankings. Rumors are Solomon and Tarquin are wavering. Miami is a place so loaded with talent in the tri county areas that you should be able to eat raw onions before every in-home visit and loudly fart all over the furniture and still sign a top 15 class.

It’s clear Richt is not some sort of Lincoln Riley level schematic genius and X and O’s wizard. That means he has to be a world class recruiter, motivator, and expert at hiring coordinators who are bright.

All programs need talent to win, but especially those headed up by a pedestrian football mind like Richt. He better get his *** in gear and close strong, is what I’m saying, because in the meantime we’re all glossing over this vital area for our program.

You sir are on fire lately. Another epic post! I agree but I dont think anyone here is overlooking his mediocre recruiting this cycle. That's one of the reasons I want an elite OC. To get kids interested again. This is quickly turning into a nightmare scenario. Richt has no idea what pressure is but he will find out if he doesn't turn this ship around!

LMAO @ the ‘average ranking’ for ‘20. What do you suppose it will be after the decommits are all done?

Rocht is a mediocre recruiter and poor manager of recruiting. Average rankings can be maintained by signing fewer kids. But then you have to play with a depleted roster. Does he get a pass for that, too?

He botched OL and interior DL recruiting, in particular, and had he not inherited 3 Lbs from Golden’s Last cycle, we’d be talking about LB also. He has lost out on far too many top local kids. Especially at DB.

He’s not awful at recruiting, but he sure ain’t particularly good at it. And what he lacks in ability he doesn’t seem to make up for with effort or passion.

Hoping somehow this class is salvageable. Wondering if offensive recruits in particular are awaiting an OC announcement that most likely isn't coming.

Searles every where he has gone has always recruited really big guys that can't move. That is a problem.

I'm not sure if you're following the recruiting board...but Miami's out here offering low end 3* offensive linemen in November because they just lost their top recruits. Also, after losing our top running back, Richt and staff are hot after an App State commitment (who I like, FWIW - but the optics are the optics). As for Knowles and King types...I guess I'll see your James King and raise you a Tyreic Martin and I'll see your Robert Knowles and raise you a Nigel Bethel. And these were during his honeymoon period. He has to replace our 38 NET punter with a punter he recruited in November with a 38 NET in community college.

As for "significantly better" as a recruiter?

idk. Randy finished with the #1 class in the country in 2008. Al Golden did have the sanctions and bad publicity to deal with, but what in and out of that 88-ish average player score. Richt right now is at 88 and change and its likely going to drop. Richt may pop higher than Golden, but when they both settle into the gig...would put it as a push in this institution.

You'd figure...after Coker, Randy, and Golden our fanbase would stop cape'ing for coaches that are clearly under-performing here.

When someone stinks, they f'n stink, brother. It shouldn't be this hard to win here.

Hold up there "What the ****", hold up there Bro. This is definitely not the board where you identify MR sucking areas. Not the place for it!!! Trust me my friend, all of the inmature MR supporting groupies will try to shoot your "True Factual Information" full of holes. According to them what is occurring is an optical illusion. Trust me my friend when I tell you that life has taught me to be a cautiously optimistic person, but when what we have looks like a Duck, walks like a Duck and quacks like a Duck, guess what my friends, we have a ******* Duck on our hands. Been a fan of the man, not the football man. Just ain't there. Wonder what the MR Groupies will say in two more years when things will be a **** of far worse. Fair weather fans!!

You guys are bored, desperate for something to do, not getting any a$$ or just ill informed. Or maybe all of them if you think Richt is a bad recruiter or worse then Golden/Shannon..lets get to the $hits and quit playing games..

- If you REALLY follow the recruiting board not many posters really liked Max Johnson any **** way. He was all hype. Not a big loss at all. There are way better QBs out there in 2020.

- We are in the drivers seat for Hasselwood and Bogle at the moment. Evan Neal and Stephenson will come down to the wire. But all signs say that it is 50/50 with Stephenson. Which shouldn't even be that close seeing that we sucked this year and UGA is a win away from being in the playoff again. (shrugs) Neal will have to shun his entire family who are UM fanatics and choose Bama. Wont be that easy or else he would have pulled the trigger to Bama already. We are still in it.

- Tarquin isn't wavering anymore. His mama wants him here and as long as Searles stays we have him. Solomon will stay in the end. He is just flirting.

- I liked Crowley but did we really need him? Esp if Homer stays. We would have all 4 RBs coming back next year and Cam Davis is no longer taking a back seat to anyone. And we have a 5* in the chamber salivating to get back in this thing. (Lo)


I will end it by saying I don't know what our final ranking will be but we have some SERIOUS studs on our commitment list. Richt isn't as good of a closer as his Godfather who would go into signing day with a class ranked at #30 and end the day with the class at #1..(Bobby Bo) but he is a **** good recruiter. And we will end with a top 15 class at worst. So calm the F down.

I agree with most of this, I'd love to have your same faith on Tarquin and Solomon sticking though.
