I never start threads, but its February 4th.


My favorite football player and childhood hero Jerome Brown was born February 4th, 1965.
I met him when he was having a pro-bowl season in fall 1991 in Mount Airy, Philadelphia and he was the reason why i love my Canes and my Eagles. It still breaks my heart he was taken from us so soon. So here's to Jerome. Living in Paradise, but not forgotten. Happy Birthday.

The most important player on the most important teams of an entire decade. And yet SEVERAL players who PLAYED HIS SAME EXACT POSITION and played in cfb AT THE SAME EXACT TIME are in the college football hall of fame, yet Jerome is not?

Those old D's were great, but it all started with a ferocious D Tackle..and Jerome is who that was as we become legendary.

Jerome was the best of a great run, a true Hurricane that played with real swagger. Cortez, Big Russ and Sapp continued the legacy. You are right, those were nasty defenses, total domination.

Jerome Brown could have been the greatest DT in the fabulous history of our beloved Canes! It is incredibly unfortunate and sad that he left us much too soon, just like Sean Taylor. May they both RIP! Go Canes!!

Absolutely, and it all starts with a world class DT! Jerome was, in my opinion, the greatest DT in our proud history! Had he played a few more years in the NFL he would have unquestionably been in the HOF!!!
 
My favorite Cane and favorite Eagle as well! I can't even begin to explain how much I loved Jerome! There will never be another Jerome Brown! Never! People want to say Suh and Donald and those two are very good players but I've got news everyone. Neither one could hold Jerome's jock and that's a cold a$$ fact! RIP Jerome! You will never be forgotten!

Edit: And another thing.....You kids that never got a chance to see Jerome play and wonder how good he was well think Gerald Willis but much more dominant! And Jerome never took a play off. Jerome was also a monster in the NFL. I remember the week that Philadelphia was going to Houston to play the Oilers and Jerome had a bad shoulder. I believe it was a slight seperation and it was all wrapped up. Anyway Buddy Ryan the head coach was going to hold him out of the game. Jerome finds out and storms into Ryan's office and demanded to play and play he did. Before the game Jerome was asked how he felt about playing Houston in the "House of Pain" which is what Houston called the Astrodome back then. Jerome says to the reporter...."They can provide the house but we will provide the pain!" Later that night(this was a Monday night game vs Houston which had the top or close to the top offense in the NFL that year) Jerome and the Eagles defense absolutely brutalized the Oilers and completely destroyed their offense. Philly held Houston, one of the top scoring offenses to 6 pts(2 FG) and under 200 yards of total offense. Jerome lived in the backfield that night playing on one shoulder.

WOW what an ( EPIC) question to ask with such an impressive list long and distinguished with all kinds of accolades including those in Hall of fame and those buried with the mark of Canes on there souls entombed , it easy to come up with a name here with this being said. I'll step outside of the obvious names we all loved to watch we'll earned no doubt about it I agree with you all BUT there is ONE lurking roaming constantly searching to drop the HAMMER even after he vomited on national TV (REMEMBER ) LMAO and never left the field of BATTLE.

Rohan Marley small in stature but a FIRE BURNED in this compact size MAN like no other, I feel when asked of those who played with him will step BACK for a second and throw there hands back in the air saying OMG scary PASSIONATE dude.

A quote from the Hall of Fame first ballot unanimous selection Ray Lewis : ROHAN MARLEY "SCARES" ME ON GAME DAY.

I would make him a starter at OLB on my ALL time Cane defensive 1st team.....

Rohan Marley the greatest unsung Cane in the history of the University of Miami and yet to this day he LURKS.
