Amount of progress needed in year 1

Again, post the schedules over the last 5 years, go back and look at our opponents talent level and then let's talk. Stop calling someone clueless or using childish antics w/o any substantiated proof.

You're doing exactly what I expect someone like you to do. Employ fanboy measurements like star ratings and perceived talent to come to your conclusions.

Even then you'd have to skew it since we didn't do all that well in those regards either.

We only had two top 20 recruiting classes and of those top classes were had several busts and overrated prospects.

Nobody is trying to defend Golden's coaching. We likely would have underachieved regardless of the talent.

But the talent was a huge issue and continues to be. Don't delude yourself.

WOW....lol....so now we're not going by star rankings to evaluate talent? OK, guy....then what are we going by?

You can't even get out your own way. Several post ago, you said, Miami didn't have talent; it was filled w/ a whole bunch of "3 star no bodies." Aren't you using the star system to prove your point there??? Now that I'm asking you to discuss other team's class rankings, you're saying "employ fanboy measurements like star ratings and perceived talent to come to your conclusions." Homie, which one is it? Either we had a roster full of 3 star no bodies, or we can't use star systems to judge talent.

Goldenites are all the same...blame talent, say team overachieved, blah blah blah.

Again. Living up to expectations.

Too stupid to even understand what overachieving means.

No, blood...you're too stupid to understand what overachieve is. Overachieving is when a team is not expected to do crap actually exceeds expectation. Underachieving is when a team is favorite and they fall flat on their face. Read a dictionary swipe boy.

Miami has talent. We do not have the talented depth of the top teams. However, we still have a better roster than 100 other schools.

KCF...

there in lines the rub...our Canes dont have the across the board talent (yet) that matches the "top 3" elite teams (changes yty)..and havent for years...

couple this with the staff competency disaster (failed at strategic, operational, and tactical across the board) from particularly the last two staffs...going on 8+years...and the state of the program is what it is...perhaps very similar to where Bama was throughout the mid-late 90s and early 00s...

now it appears the new staff (with proven history at previous programs and the changes made at Miami since arrival) has a much better handle on all things from strategic to tactical. this point cant be stressed enough...what postures any program for success is not as much what the athletes do on gameday as casual observers would have you believe..."corchs and croots" crowds believe that (go.figure)...but they would be wrong...

the top programs on the field perform because the program recruited, trained, and retained the right personnel at the right time....

Tom Brady (as an example) is who he is as a result of the program around him as much as his natural talent allows. He simply isnt all that if he were with a perennial "doormat" NFL organization...

and back to your point...i do/dont know the Canes talent today is in the top 25% of D1P5 rosters...maybe...but maybe not...what I have observed is that the Miami program appears to.have taken a jump from the bottom 25% (okay..bottom 10%) in staff and program leadership....to arguably the top 25% (maybe even top 5%-10%)...

that in of itself is going to translate into better athletes and performance on game day...

Go Canes!
