I'm glad Cyrus Moss left this guy would played emNot worried about DT. Unleash the freshman and let them grow up on the field. Every recruit should be ready to play day 1.

Agree with this, but Safety id say just a bit worse. James Williams wasn't good, and Kam was out multiple games. I guess lets see if these guys can grow into their rolesMostly agree. Exceptions are…
TE: We are better
CB: Push
S: Worse (not way worse)
More importantly, we are better overall.
Is there still a chance miami tries to add a safety in the portal? I know a few on twitter were kind of hinting that could be the case but so far nothingThe only groups that hasn’t improved or taken a step back is safety and maybe Ol. LG being the biggest concern there.
I’ll never understand why the Washington guy was the only LG we aggressively pursued. We started Lou fricking Cristobal in the bowl game with a healthy McCoy and kinsler around. The only groups that hasn’t improved or taken a step back is safety and maybe Ol. LG being the biggest concern there.
We literally grabbed defeat from jaws of victory or we would of won 8 games last year.. So you expect the same thing of year 3 with us paying Mario the highest we ever paid to have us winning..Offense got better, defense got worse.
8 or 9 wins feels like a good, level-headed expectation given what we’ve got suiting up.
I’m a bit disappointed we chose not to address DT and DB and go “all in” for a playoff run…this feels like an important season, but I’m not the admin or the billionaire writing checks. Bit of an unfortunate missed opportunity though, which sucks.
We can still expect to win 9 and show an improvement over last year IMO, that we’re on the right track. Keep crushing it in high school recruiting and in another year or two we can talk plsyoffs. And who knows, maybe we get lucky this year and win even more, it’s not impossible
I think it is really quite simple. If Carpenter is indeed a liability at C then we would have made a position move with one of the other OL on the team. If he starts at C game one then he obviously is the best option we have. Is he better than Lee? We will find out.I tend to disagree with a lot of you guys on the center position. Peter had a great point the other today, Carpenter will improve significantly with our guards and tackles. He had a terrible supporting cast at Indiana. The fact that people are even remotely concerned about this position is beyond me. I also never said that the safteys were better this season. That’s pretty obvious. Having said that, I think the saftey group will do just fine. I think the staff likes what they have there. Not saying anything about the DT room yet lol. Let’s all just keep saying a prayer that Barrow stays
Preseason point-spreads are typically off by a couple of touchdowns. Before the transfer portal you could get about 65%+ of your picks vs the spread correct just by taking the team that had the overwhelming number of returning starters + returning QB. This worked very well game 1 then okay game 2 then didn't work at all game 3 and beyondNot true.
We are already dogs to FSU at home (+1) technically but that means Vegas thinks we’re about a 3-4 point underdog to FSU on a neutral field.
We are also dogs to Louisville on the road, still +1 but juice in favor of Louisville as well.
Again very close to 50/50 in the current situation, but technically underdogs in those games. It’s also very early lines before even fall camp as begun, so there’s only so many data points you can use - it’s pretty much calibrated by the following:
- Returning production #’s from Bill Connelly
- Sagarin ratings
- HS recruiting slightly since most won’t contribute much Y1
- portal recruiting for sure
- SOS
- Coaching upgrades/departures
I never worry about "I'm worried" posts made at 1:48 AM.Have we gotten better across the board this off season or just at a couple of spots? I know Dmoney compared year. 1 vs today but just looking at last year to today.
QB - much much better
RB - if fletcher is out for the year this is a push but we will say slightly better (heavily relying on unproven players)
WR - experience and the transfer should make us better here
TE - push
OL - small step back. I doubt we would have still been sniffing around another portal C and IOL if this wasn’t the case
DE - much much better
DT - if we lose Barrow we are worse than last year and with him it’s a push
LB - better and have some depth
CB - worse
S - way worse. Depending on where Powell plays maybe the worst group of S in the ACC
Maybe it’s the 20 years of sucking and the refusing to fall for the hype again but I’m just not sure this team has the horses. Cam should make a huge difference but if we need talent to overcome Mario’s deficiencies I don’t see it yet. Granted there are a lot of true Soph that can step up but that’s nothing we can count on.
The schedule should help but we’re going to have to out coach some teams and that hasn’t happened yet. I think 10 win may be this teams ceiling. I hope I’m wrong. My #1 concern is we lose a game because of coaching or a crucial game and the mercenaries quit on the team and fracture the locker room. But that’s something 90% of the country has to worry about.
And then it became, "by all accounts"... Nope, that was all based on one accountSomeone on CIS claimed to have seen 10 minutes of a spring practice and he said Carpenter was having a hard time. So naturally, that turned into “Zach Carpenter can’t play and they’re trying to get a portal guy to replace him”. Meanwhile nothing of the sort was ever reported by anyone with any knowledge of the team and they made no effort to sign another center.
If you really believe what you wrote, you should be comfortable taking the Canes under the 9.5 season win total. Win $125 on a bet of $100.Offense got better, defense got worse.

Google AI is already projecting Miami to win the Banana Bowl?
