Alonzo Highsmith AD and Butch Davis or Chuck Pagano as Head Coach. Let's Make it Happen!

This doesn't have to be so difficult.

70-year old (next year) Butch Davis or a 60-year old Pagano, who's relegated back to defensive coordinator through the NFL old boys network, as Indy ran him off as head coach—a guy that's spent one year in the college game (2007, with Butch at UNC) since leaving Miami in 2000. THIS is who you want to turn the keys over to as the future of the program. Got it.

All that said, if there was a realistic way for Alonzo Highsmith to be considered for AD—it's worth the conversation—but never gonna happen.

As frustrated as fans are with James over football, his efforts behind the scenes to fundraise and upgrade facilities has him in good graces all around. He's not going anywhere anytime soon. There's more to the role of "athletic director" than hiring football coaches—and Highsmith knows nothing about any of that.

I don't have a hard evidence of that. He has been working in the front office in the NFL for long time and worked with many coaches and assistant coaches. Maybe it is a reach but compare him to someone like James. He is smart and very well connected. Plus, he cares about bringing Miami football back to dominance. I never said he is the best in the business or the only candidate. But I would be willing to take a chance on him in a heart beat.
James isn’t the bar I’m setting just like all of our failed coaches aren’t the bar. The AD bar for me, from a UM perspective, is a guy like Weird Sam Jankovich.

Fck the idea of hiring a guy just because he might be better than the current diarrhea puddle occupying the AD’s office.

Knowing that they exist isn't quite enough to give someone the job.
That's a bit disingenuous. He has executive experience in an NFL front office and has been in and around athletic departments for 30+ years. If you want to make an argument that we should get a strong, experienced AD because our entire athletic department is infested with weak morons, I'll happily agree. All I ever said is that Highsmith has executive experience and you've tried to paint me as Highsmith or bust.

The CFO at Coca-Cola also has executive experience.
