We need "football-centric" AD. If there is such a word. And someone who really cares about about resurgence of our football program. Someone who can evaluate coaches and their performance.

That's what marginal UM fans want, but the University isn't going to hire a glorified football operations director. The University still needs an actual athletic director.

Yes, I think Blake James knows all of that stuff. And just an FYI, the university cares about not getting fined by the federal government for Title IX violations far more than they care about putting a non-AD in the AD role just because he played football.

No one said anything about promoting "from within". Stay alert here. One does need some semblance of what it means to run a university's athletic department, which could include experience in another athletic department.

So his name will help raise money, but we don't know if Alonzo Highsmith himself can raise money.

I don't have a hard evidence of that. He has been working in the front office in the NFL for long time and worked with many coaches and assistant coaches. Maybe it is a reach but compare him to someone like James. He is smart and very well connected. Plus, he cares about bringing Miami football back to dominance. I never said he is the best in the business or the only candidate. But I would be willing to take a chance on him in a heart beat.
